Hello!
I am trying to learn LUA coding and I don't really know where to start but I have some basic(very small) knowledge about it.
I just bought a book, this one: http://www.amazon.com/Programming-Third-Edition-Roberto-Ierusalimschy/dp/859037985X
Do you think I might be able to learn something out of that book or do you think I should try to learn any other way?
Please reply. :)
Garry's mod Mod Lua (GLua) is quite different from Lua. I just looked at the tutorials and random articles from the GMod wiki, Saw the code of other peoples projects, figuring out how everything worked, then took it from there.
Also, I personally think you wasted your Money on that book, You can just look at the many free webpages online and teach yourself from there

No it isn't, it might be a better idea to post in the What Do You Need Help With thread, but fast threads is for any question or other stupid shit.

if there's a section dedicated to what you're posting, post in it.
according to what you're saying people should post all their forum questions in fast threads, and not in the ask us about the forums thread.
Don't put words in my mouth.
Also, that doesn't make this the wrong section bud.

i didn't put words in your mouth that wouldn't be possible
and it makes it fucking stupid to post in this section
most people in fast threads don't know lua
so obviously it would be less stupid to put it in the programming section
I can't believe you care about Fast Threads.
I'm actually curious about this, anyone know any good tutorials on Lua?
use the lua pil
Learn by doing. It's much easier that way.
I already tried all you said for a long time and no success.. I can just fix small errors

How is that not 'success'
In a day you're covering a lot of basics, that's pretty successful for only a day of learning.

I want to be able to do stuff on my own, I don't want to ask for help for every shit I "try to do" but I don't know how to start learning more advanced stuff to be able to do stuff on my own.
