Called it.
Now I can finally redeem that TF2 hat code
I remember buying this years ago and being somewhat disappointed with it.
How shocking.
Rift is probably the only MMORPG that I have enjoyed playing.
Neat. I enjoyed Rift during beta but never bought it because it's practically World of Warcraft, just a pretty well done version of it.
Always wanted to give this a shot but never bothered to buy it.
And from what I can tell you can play everything, just limited in character slots, bag slots, and convenience features like faster leveling. Pick it up SWTOR.
I tried it, never got in to it. It is a very bland and dry mmo.

Trion are cool devs. I've always liked the idea of RIFT, but never got into it, looks like this is my chance.

I played this at Eurogamer many years ago; it kinda felt like WoW at the time. It's logical for games like this to go free-to-play, since all the others are going that route.
There are few subscription based MMO's these days. Only ones I can remember are the Final Fantasy ones and WoW.
There are few subscription based MMO's these days. Only ones I can remember are the Final Fantasy ones and WoW.
EVE Online. Fun fact, they have never lost subscribers; they have had constant growth for 10 years straight.
I really suggest people play this if they like MMO's. It is alot like WoW but it such a different game at the same time. I fucking loved it, 660+ hours on it, only stopped since my raid group split.
SWTOR F2P: [t]http://i.imgur.com/6MrOAeL.jpg[/t]
You have to pay for sprinting?!
I enjoyed Rift quite a lot back in beta. I might give it another go.
You have to pay for sprinting?!
You get it later as a free to play character. On it's own it isn't that bad, but the sheer amount of concessions you make to play SWTOR for free is insane.
Wow, you can't even run without a subscription in the Starwars game? [editline]14th May 2013[/editline] shit, late
Rift F2P: [t]http://i.imgur.com/lSLiMIW.jpg[/t]
Trion gets SO much respect from me for that. Removing/delaying features? Crippling F2P users? Fuck that, you get just slightly less space of it.
Shit, I might need to dust off my old account. I quit because I couldn't keep up with the monthly fee, it's a shame my raiding guild split up around the same time.
I renewed my game to check out the dimensions (player housing) and its pretty fun to mess with. I wish WoW had something like it.
You get it later as a free to play character. On it's own it isn't that bad, but the sheer amount of concessions you make to play SWTOR for free is insane.
F2P TOR is pretty much unplayable.
I think NA Aion, Linage 2 and Tera are pretty good monetization-vise.
F2P TOR is pretty much unplayable.
Unless you have friends willing to buy you some the unlocks then it's...somewhat bearable otherwise most of your credits earned through quests and such go towards getting those unlocks.
No matter what you think about Rift and how it's "same old generic MMORPG" you have to respect what Trion has done with the game in regards to content.
