Wait, Paranautical Activity? I thought that got removed from Steam because one of the devs threatened to kill Gabe Newell. When did that come back?

Some other developer picked up the scraps and re-released it on 13 February.
I'd definitely recommend Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth and Spelunky considering they're one of my favorite games of all time.
Risk of Rain and FTL are also amazing games.
You can easily clock 50+ hours if you get hooked.
Eldritch, House of Dead Ninjas and Abyss Odyssey are very fun for few hours, but either get stale or you just finish them.
I also heard a lot of NecroDancer praise, but I just bought it so I have no idea.

It also got an update with its re-release with new weapons and stuff.
Dungeons of Dredmor is really worth the money. Remember to get the complete edition for maximum Diggle mass murdering fun.
don't buy pixel piracy, the devs dropped it and it's a piece of garbage
Some other developer picked up the scraps and re-released it on 13 February.
and it's still not a good game.
Really wish I could get more into Risk of Rain. It's fun, but I'm still not very good at it and I still haven't unlocked any different characters.
[editline]23rd April 2015[/editline]
Crypt of the Necrodancer looks fun, might have to get that one at some point.
Necrodancer just came out of early access, as well.
In addition to the ones recommended here, ToME is a good, classic roguelike.
I fucking love Risk of Rain. If you find yourself just really sucking at the game just remember these rules (for green as grass beginners):
Always be moving. Always.
The longer you play, the harder it gets. And it only gets harder. Nothing but harder. So for goodness sake find that teleport first then worry about farming creatures to buy shit.
It's okay to play on Drizzle difficulty. It's okay, no one will judge you. Its also good to farming and potentially unlocking better items for future runs.
The Glass Rune is the best fucking thing ever.
Also Teleglitch: Die More Edition. I really liked this game.
If you want to be utterly terrified by wee lil pixels on a screen, painfully cringe at every precious bullet wasted and legitimately feel your heart skip a beat at the sight of a laser-squid tank slithering into the same room as you. Give Teleglitch a whirl. Keep in mind that the vast bulk of people don't make it to the 5th Level. Out of 10.
Also the Arena challenges are great fun. Incredible stress relief. Gives you a chance to vent fury with the games kick ass shooting mechanics.
picked up heavy bullets since it looked kinda cool
In addition to the ones recommended here, ToME is a good, classic roguelike.
One of the best "real" Rougelikes.
Kind of introduced me to rougelikes, even though I am still absolutely garbage at them. It's much easier to get into than something like nethack, because there's a lot of Diablo influence.
don't buy pixel piracy, the devs dropped it and it's a piece of garbage
It's not that bad. Worth $2.50 I would say.
Risk of Rain
FTL
Isaac's
Rogue Legacy
Pixel Piracy
These in this order, get them
Strangely Heavy Bullets is in the sale, but not Ziggurat from what I can see?
Also Eldritch is probably worth a bash, even though it's not on sale.
Why is Isaac Rebirth not there?
Why is Isaac Rebirth not there?
It is, it's 33% off.
Too bad Ziggurat isn't on there!
If you don't have Spelunky already, go for it!
I am kind of surprised that Vagante isn't part of the sale. I mean, it IS early access but it also is a roguelike ala Spelunky.
Teleglitch is actually pretty amazing, easily one of the top picks here
Nobody knows about it because the developer is terrible at advertising, and just released it out of nowhere.
In addition to the ones recommended here, ToME is a good, classic roguelike.
I have it.
It talked about a big expansive world, but I just short of shoot across these amazingly small screens. Is it always like that?
don't buy pixel piracy, the devs dropped it and it's a piece of garbage
But it's still being updated?
Crypt of the Necrodancer is really good, I spent my weekend on it and had a great time.
Can't recommend it enough.
No love for Hero Siege? I've found it to be insanely fun, and the devs are still supporting it like crazy.
Risk of Rain is really good.
Also, not on sale but incredibly addicting is Nuclear Throne, however it is still really Early Access.
I wish there were more Rogue-likes on steam, like IVAN, .Hack, and Angband, or even graphical Rogue-likes like Dungeons of Dredmor. For some reason I don't enjoy Rogue-lites as much, not enough Rogue one way, not enough whatever other genre they mix in the other.

Well, ToME (Tales of Maj'Eyal) is a proper rogue-like which I can recommend.
I have it.

Dungeons tend to be composed of areas which are relatively modest in size (varies though, and they tend to have floors or other areas connected to them), but not any less or more so than other roguelikes that I can remember (Thinking specifically of IVAN here, which I have thrown endless amounts of time into), and it also has a huge world map with several towns, access to dungeons, etc.
Not on the list but I would recommend Enemy, really enjoyable little physics based iso-rpg, really fucking hard too.

Huh,I was under the impression that the devs did a large patch recently?
