Title says it all. I just found out my photo-editor supports the format icons are made in, but is there a "standard" resolution?
I believe it's usually 32x32, 64x64, 128x128, 256x256, etc. Don't worry about making smaller versions, a lot of programs make them for you I believe.
Alright, thanks :v:
isnt the standard resolution 40x40 (atleast in windows?)
I think it's these sizes, not 100% sure though. 32x32 for standard size XP and below icons 48x48 for standard Vista and 7 icons 64x64 for XP and above thumbnail size 128x128 and 256x246 for large icons in Vista and 7. 16x16 is used for list views, titlebar icon, taskbar icon etc
yeh you should be able to make multiple icon images and save it as 1 icon, the "proper" way of doing it would be to make a 16x16, 32x32, 48,48 and 64x64 icons, 128x128 and bigger aren't really used

Whenever I make icons, I tend to do it at 256x256
