legendary stratergy
Typo there, buddy. [editline]5th October 2014[/editline] I played a shit load of Warcraft III back when it was still really popular, but it might be fun playing it again. Especially some of the co-op maps.
Custom games were the shit, not sure if many people play them now.

Does this mean that they'll finally ship the Universal version on Mac? (Right now you have to have a Rosetta compatible system, update it, then you can copy that version and it's fine, they never updated the installer)
Custom games were the shit, not sure if many people play them now.
The last time I remember playing online in Frozen Throne, custom games still had a decent following. Decent enough that I could see some map series that I first remember seeing back around early 2004. My last time online was about four years ago though. Unless something cataclysmic occurred, something tells me people still play custom games, but they're probably all overshadowed, and outnumbered by the repulsive amount of DOTA games on the game list. It got worse over time the more years the game started to pack on. I wouldn't be surprised if it's even worse now.
Oh god please let them add those 2 games, they're still easily amongst the best of the best RTS games ever.
Making the games work for today´s PCs? The only one i can think of might need some tweaking is Warcraft 1.

I'm willing to bet money they'll have a release for this at Blizzcon. Like, they'll announce it and then go 'and it's live NOW'.
yes now we get to rage more at uther party
Just saying, but Warcraft III has supported any conceivable resolution that I've tried for at least 4 years now. It used to not handle 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions, but that's been patched for a loooonnnggg time now.
Custom games were the shit, not sure if many people play them now.
That game was the birthplace of Dota, even though Aeon of Strife came first in the age of Starcraft 1. Regardless, we can thank Warcraft III for laying down the mechanical basis for the "real-time heroic strategy" present in Dota, League, Newerth, etc. That said, the notion of having a powerful hero in an army had been done before in turn-based strategy, namely in Heroes of Might and Magic, though Warcraft III was probably still the game that brought the concept into RTS.
what are you doing having a 4:3 monitor
It's 5:4, not 4:3, that's the problem. And I have it because it still works. According to the Steam Hardware Survey, 6.21% of Steam users share my 5:4 plight.
I will gladly go back to Warcraft 3's multiplayer just for the custom games. I just hope they get rid of all the bot's hosting the original Dota and nonsense like that. The Starcraft 2 custom game scene is alright, but it doesn't hold a candle to Warcraft 3's selection where you could host anything and get people joining up. That does remind me, I never really played the campaign for 3 and Frozen Throne legit. I might try and do that if there is a re-release.

heres warcraft 3 multiplayer now every single server is run by a bot and nobody plays anything but dota 2 or generic zombie maps thanks icefrog you really outdid yourself

I don't have the money to upgrade my monitor and even if I did it's a low priority. My peripherals and components need replacing or upgrading way above my monitor, even though the damned thing's over a decade old. I like AoS games just fine, - Tides of Blood and the battleships/tanks were some of my favorites, so was the custom AoS map where you could build and tweak your hero and minions - but Jesus that's not the only thing I ever want to play. Even the tower defense games disappeared, and they were one of the most popular. Fucking Christ, Footies even disappeared after a while. I mean I despised Footies, but at least it wasn't DotA.
Warcraft 3 battlenet was the first online game I played, I'll be excited if this can spark enough interest for there to be even a few good servers running. I still remember playing the sheep vs wolf games pretty clearly.
A crime against humanity.
Yeaaaah... my excuse is that i sucked at RTS games when i was younger. I still suck at RTS today, but i've gotten a little more competent with them over the past year due to playing a lot of Supreme Commander and Age of Empires 2. I'll sort out that crime when i get a chance..
