• Help -- my ear feels very clogged and I everything sounds muffled.

All of a sudden my left ear went completely muffled with sound and it feels like it's really really clogged. I tried cleaning it and there is no wax, and I haven't been in any water like swimming or anything today. This is so sudden and I'm really scared, it doesn't hurt or anything but my left ear is almost completely deaf. :C
Swallow your spit or blow your nose with it shut with your fingers. That's the remedy for when I get clogged/muffled ears.
By any chance did you sleep close to an active fan or air conditioner? Sometimes that results in the same thing happening to me. Unfortunately the only way I know of to make it go away is to wait it out. Q-tips, peroxide, all that stuff doesn't help me when it happens.
Either go see a doctor or wait for it to go away. Sometimes I get that too but I just wait a few days and then it usually goes away.
It's weird because I was just sitting here playing pokemon and suddenly boom, hearing goes apeshit. I don't have sinuses or anything like that. It's 3 am right now so I'll wait it out for any doctor appointments for now. I'll try nasal spray, idk what to do really [editline]2nd June 2014[/editline]
By any chance did you sleep close to an active fan or air conditioner? D; I do sleep with a noisy air conditioner but I've never had this happen before, I'm usually in top physical form
doctor
it's probably a nesting spider
Brain cancer
Same thing actually happened to me not too long ago, just go to the doctor. That's what I did. Also, Q-tips are a no-no, there's a chance of making it worse.
I had this I went to the doctor and they shot water into my ear and huge clumps of deep earwax came out
i've got the same thing, its most likely wax buildup
get your ears cleaned out I have to do this at least once in 6 months
It's either due to earwax impacted in your ear or an injured eardrum from a sudden loud noise, most probably the former. Visit an ENT specialist and get it unclogged.

Sounds like compacted wax, trust me I know, I had the same thing happen to me. Go see a doctor ASAP.
I have this shit right now. It happens whenever I get sick and it just takes a few days of being uncomfortable for it to fix itself.
probably ear cancer.
I had something like this, but it occurred after I drove a car for a couple of hours. What I would do is I would wait a couple of days just to see if it goes away, and if it doesn't, consider consulting your doctor.
This sounds like you've impact wax deep in your ear. I've had this before when I was cleaning my ear out but ended up pushing a load of wax really deep in. Went to the doctors and they cleaned it out. I might be wrong of course but you'll need a doctor for this.
Lie on your side and put a few drops of oil in there. Wait ten minutes and have a shower, wash your ears out with the hot water. Usually when I clean my ears I accidentally push wax back into areas where I can't get it, and sometimes over time they clog up a bit. It's nasty but easy to fix.
Do you clean the ear wax out of your ears? maybe its blocking your ear?
Probably no big deal, the pressure or something. I once had my left ear hurting, feeling stuffed and barely could hear out of it. 2 days later, back to normal all of a sudden.
Your Eustachian tube is blocked or inflamed. This can be due to: - allergies - smoke irritation - viral infections The Eustachian tube is what allows air to flow into the middle ear. If it becomes blocked, it creates a vacuum in the middle ear which draws fluid into the space surrounding the ossicles. (These are the tiny bones that resonate into your cochlea) The reason your hearing is muffled is because they can't move as freely and the sound they create is quieter. This commonly only effects one ear. There is no reason to visit a doctor, because this frequently clears up on its own in 2 days to a week. However, if it lasts over three weeks you should see a doctor and think about getting a grommet inserted into your ear drum, which allows the fluid to drain through the ear. I get this a lot, and what you've described really pops out as this. You can visit a doctor anyway if you want, after all I'm not an ENT doctor. In the meantime, you can put an earphone in there and connect it to your phone, then have the phone relay all the sound it picks up from the microphone, sort of like a makeshift hearing aid. Decongestants can sometimes work but don't usually help me. tl;dr - harmless fluid buildup. Clears up on its own. It's not or at least doesn't sound like compacted earwax buildup because that is more slow and it sounds like you've already tried to remedy it.
If you do go in and find that your ears need to be cleaned, and they use a big syringe to clean them with warm water, ask to take the home with you. I did and now whenever it happens to me I bust it out and they're clean in no time.
I went to get my ears cleaned for fun once but the doctor told me off because "ear cleaning is not a recreational activity", she also said I have the cleanest ears she's ever seen which is one of the weirder compliments I've received.
Get in the shower, wash out your ears. I've had to do this twice, but usually it's not bad enough that I can't get the wax out.
You just need to go to one of those shady houses on the edge of town, ya know. I've heard there's a lot of addicts round those parts, recreational ear cleaning way into the night, ear syringes laying about everywhere. If you're not in it for the long haul though, stay away, that shit'll suck you in.
Alright, I've used a few different methods so far. I hate q tips, fuck those things. I can hear out of the ear now but there is definitely something in there. Long story short me and gf live together and there is not much money so that's why I'm sorta hesitant on going to a doctor. But other than this ear thing I've been in great health really. Thanks for all the suggestions, I think I'll wait this out for a bit and hope it will work itself out, but if it doesn't then I'm going to a doctor's. It really sucks, I keep yawning and doing a lion-roar face and it's always popping in the ear :v:
Use peroxide. Leave it in your ear for like 30 minutes. That is the only way to get rid of a heavy buildup.
