I have a Philips M589/22 stereo, which I have connected to my PC using an aux to jack cable, and it works fine. However, it has a USB PC link on it, and I was wondering if I could connect it up to work properly using this. Having connected it, windows installed it as a 'Philips Audio Set (Generic USB audio)' but the only time I get sound through it is when I test it, and that is very faint (it doesn't change at all with volume) through the speakers, but I cannot hear anything when I have headphones plugged into it). The odd thing that I noticed is that the controls on it still work in regards to controlling media player on my PC (pressing pause causes media player to pause, etc.).
I tried contacting Philips support, however, they said that they couldn't provide any help as it has been out of production for a number of years.
Does anyone have any ideas on whether I can get this to work properly?
It probably helps to know that I'm running 8.1.
