So this ugly as hell Norton window takes Max Payne 3 out of fullscreen right as i was to go hands vs Machete. I've no idea how it installed itself, but i closed it down, shut down all related processes and uninstalled it. Went back in game for 10 minutes and it shows up again. I repeat the process, while googling this "PC Helper". I also find the Program Files folders and delete them. Go back to the game and another ten minutes on, this shit shuts down Max Payne 3 again and is all smug as shit. I go and check only to find the Folders have returned. I knew Norton was shit, but i wouldn't suspect them of pulling this kind of "advertising". Mostly because it's the kind of problem they usually deal with. Anyone know how to deal with this?
only way to fully take care of it is to format
Yeah. I had a feeling that might be the easiest way. I guess i gotta bite the bullet then...
Also next time check all the install prompts. Adobe includes the norton scareware along with some other popular installers.
I usually do that. The fact that it self-reinstalls is what leads me to believe that something shady's going on. I found one specific example where it was being snuck in with Shockwave. Isn't it against the law to install software on a computer without the persons consent? At my first uninstall, any consent i might accidentally have given was revoked. Yet it reinstalls.

Do the following: -Find the process in task manager. -Right click --> find file location. -Boot into safemode and remove the files -goto start, Type "msconfig" and remvove it from the startup que. -goto start, Type regedit and search for norton. (remove every key you find) If its still there once you restart get Gparted and check for really small (below 50mb) partitions on your HDD and remove them, it might be installing itself from there.
