I was browsing facepunch when one of my cats started erratically running through my room, I first thought it was just my cat acting strange but then I saw it was chasing something, I assume it was a mouse. My cat then chased it out into the hallway and I think its gone behind the couch, so Im wondering how can I get this mouse out of my house?
Wait for your cat to mutilate it and give it to you as a gift.
To be clear:
it is not a mouse. It is a rat.
Stop being a wimp and catch it with your hands. I do that all the time when my cats bring stuff in.
Once I caught one and it went up my sleeve and appeared on my shoulder. Once one jumped out of my hands and got inside the couch, we had to slice open the bottom with a knife to get it out from the frame inside.
Corner it, scoop it up, take it outside, set it down in some plants.
I'm telling you to man up and I'm not even a man :colbert:
Get that mouse out your house, don't let it find your blouse or else it will become droused.
Mouse trap ftw.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention something. Don't kill it. Please, for me, don't kill it. :< In the name of Christmas. You can get traps that only capture the rats, not kill them. Get one of those and put some cheese inside and please don't kill it they're still cuuuute no matter what anyone sayyys.
They prefer peanut butter :eng101:
Oh and for the sake of everybody (Especially the mouse) catch it before the cats kill it. If you manage to scoop it up and you put it outside and it dies from the fright (Which it would have anyway) or the cold (You bastard, should have put it inside a bin or something) at least it's outside. My granny's cat brought in a mouse in the middle of the night once and it somehow got crushed underneath a filing cabinet and tooks weeks to find.
The Smell
My cat jumped behind the couch, but it must have not found it because it is now rolling around in the kitchen licking grocery bags.

If I can catch it I don't know where I can put it because I live in a rural area, and its very cold around here.

you are stupid.
this is a stupid idea.
get a classic style trap (the type with the spring loaded bar that kills the vermin) and use it. bait it with something sweet and sticky, cheesedelux's suggestion of peanut butter is a good one.
if you catch it in one of those humane traps and release it, it'll just come back to your house. which you don't really want unless you love having small rodents spreading disease.
don't use poison, because that can sometimes result in the animal eating it, then curling up under a floorboard or something similar to die. which will smell awful.
having a cat is a great step to catch them, but classic simple traps also work really well (and are cheap!)
I found this on the counter, do mice like chocolate?

I bet one is on your desk right now op.
One of my cats finally caught it, R.I.P. mouse/rat.
Now, how are you gonna dispose it?
