• Steam games downloading at a crawl...Help!

My steam games have been downloading really, really slow. I'd say about around 100 bytes-10 kilobytes per second. I live in Houston, but there are no servers there. So I have to use Dallas servers. Using Modem - 56k connection under options, but I'm not sure if Ethernet connections go along with it. I load these pages super fast though. Are servers just busy or is it my connection? Because I have LAN(Ethernet), and my internet loads lightning fast. Can I switch to a less busy server to get it faster? Or would that fuck up my stuff? UPDATE: Oh yes, I forgot to mention that I had XP and today I set up my new computer with Windows 7. Back on XP, I downloaded games fast and within 15-30 minutes. Now Steam has gotten really slow with downloads.
hey! its christmas!
Download more RAM.
Try not having Firefox/Chrome/Whatever open in the background.
delete system32, worked for me! HAR HAR
Stop using up your cap on porn
My downloads have been slow today too. Most probably because of the sales.
Download more RAM.
I have 8 gigs, lol.
Obviously that's not enough.
also, isnt there like an ethernet setting? or like cable or something? use that instead of 56k, that might help
