• PC will not start

Hi, last night my PC cut out on me several times, literally just turning off while in use. Each time I had to turn the wall socket off then on again for it to work, leading me to believe thats where the problem was. This morning however, it wont start at all, and using a different wall socket makes no difference. I started trying different things, and since the lights on the front of the case wont turn on, I figured this could be a PSU problem. However, interestingly my mouse, which is using a rear usb port, turns on when there is power to the computer. Another thing I can add is that when plugged in to the wall and turned on, the hard drive light flashes once. If I turn it on after that the light wont flash unless turned off and on again at the wall. I'm no expert, so take my word with a pinch of salt, but i'm going to guess its either a problem booting, or with the motherboard. If its a motherboard problem, you'll need to replace the part. If its a boot problem, get a docking station, and take off all important files. Once that's done you can wipe the HD, and do a complete re-installation on the HD. But get a second opinion first. I don't wanna get the blame when your MBR is wiped or when your computer is destroyed even more.

From my experience of hard drive problems everything should still start. It could still be a motherboard problem though.
run a full system diagnostics test
run a full system diagnostics test
Thanks but how can I do this without being able to turn the computer on?
before the OS loads, you should be able to run it.
A) PSU issue. No real way to test this other than to put a different one in. B) Power button connection to the motherboard is loose. Also double check all connections (especially if you have a 4 pin CPU power connection). Other than that I wouldn't know.
You can try some general troubleshooting, but it sounds like a PSU/mobo issue. -Remove all but 1 RAM stick, and try to boot. -Then change the stick out with another one and try again. -Remove the GPU and use the onboard one (if you have one). And:Do the fans spin?
