My brother, father and myself are looking for an mmo to play together and none of us have really payed attention to any of them so I've come looking for guidance.
We don't wanna play WoW, we did for like 2 years before we got bored and quit. Rift wont work for us cause we can't even download the damn thing. It'd be nice if it wasn't cookie cutter classes like "Warrior" who runs in and tanks everything while doing very little damage or "Mage" who just throws fireballs, you know what I mean. We've also played EVE.
To make things short, suggest MMO's.
EVE Online.
However it takes some time to get into and you need to have patience to play.
Its pretty fun once you get into it. Playing as a group together I would say it would be great fun.

Sadly my brother never really got into it, my dad got bored pretty fast too.

Did you ever pvp? Because that is where all the fun is had.

Well not really, I wasn't very old then (~10) and I only mined and killed NPCs. Also scavenging.
My dad really didn't into it enough to PVP at all though.

Looking for something with more depth and preferably 3D though I'm pretty I'm pretty sure none of us are against the 2d top down type idea (Totally drawing a blank here on what it's called...)

For some reason I really want to get back into WoW...I have the expansions except cataclysm but I'm not sure :ohdear:
I've played everything and a lot of people are going to hate me now but p2p runescape is the best in my opinion.
Id suggest World of Warcraft.
