I know the 5870 has directx 11 and 4890 doesn't, but most games have directx 10, so I assume 4890 is better for now... but not for sure
Should I get a 5870 or a 4890 also.. I've heard of "bottle necking" I assume it has to do with a processor, this is the processor I'm going to have
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz
So... 5870 or 4890 this year.
If you suggest 5870 then give me a good brand... and a link
I live in the United States.

Well is it worth the extra $200...? 10 extra fps in crysis isn't much of a convincer
Do you know what you're talking about dude?
The 5870 is amazing compared to a 4890. Now if this was a 4890x2 or 5870 thread then there would be room for discussion.

Just get a 5850 if you're indecisive. Best price/performance ( I know of ) that's on the market.

I know 5870 is better, but is it even worth the extra $210 than the 4890?
I'd say yes, ONLY because it is an amazing single core GPU and the DX11 is very nice.
Honestly I want to say 5850. Even though you didn't mention them it really is a good, good card.
[editline]05:24PM[/editline]
Pretty much all of the 5800 cards are good. Except for the 5830 that's icky.
If you're looking for something between the 4890 and the 5870 then get the 5850. It still beats the 4890 by loads.

The 5830 isn't really bad. It's a reasonable choice.

Okay, you all have suggested 93843893 cards...
5870 or 5850 or 5830 or 4890
The extra $210 for the 5870 doesn't seem like it is worth it because the 4890 itself costs $210 >_>
Either the 5850 or 5870.
Get a 5850 then. Smaller, Less power, quieter/cooler, costs around 300.
Get it.
Definitely get a 5850. It's very easy to get a 5850 to outperform a standard clocked 5870. I'm currently running 1000core/1200memory.

What games will you be wanting to play, and at what resolution.
Or just get the 5870 and cut through everything like butter.
