1000$, although 500$ would be better.
But i need a computer built for that budget, can the good old community of facepunch help me?
Oh and by the way, no monitor, keyboard & mouse, OS, Sound system, And a case.
Thanks!

I'm sorry but this part is quite confusing.
Are you saying he doesn't have a monitor but he has keyboard & mouse, OS, Sound system, And a case? Or that he has none of it? Please clarify.

How did that reply get here.
It would be nice to know the general use for the computer. How big a hard drive do you need? What will it mainly be used for?
Mainly Gaming, high end shit such as Crysis if you would
And as for harddrive, 1 TB would be dandy
And as for you nilus, im saying i have a monitor, keyboard & mouse, OS, Sound system, and a case, but by sound system i mean speakers, i still need a sound card
but by sound system i mean speakers, i still need a sound card
I would like to point out that almost all motherboards now come with on board sound that is decent, if not great even for 7.1 Surround speaker configurations. Do you still want a sound card for something more advanced?
I think most motherboards have sound cards.
Also, you won't build a "great" computer for 500$.
Not really bear, i built a great computer for 310$, but like i said, ive got a 1000$ limit
And i didnt know most motherboards had a sound card, thanks
Here's a rough build I just hammered out. I left room in the price to upgrade if you feel it is necessary.
So im not great at this

I can assure you it will run these effortlessly, at least 70 Fps on Fallout 3 with max settings, on a 22" monitor, and more then playable frame rates on Crysis.

You can run Fallout 3 at high settings at 1920 x 1080 with about 50-60FPS I should think.
Crysis will run on ultra-high 1920 x 1080 with about 30-35 FPS.

Don't get GWeasel's build. You can do better.
Cool, i forgot to mention i have a CD drive too, but ive decied that if you can, would you mind building a quick one with case and all? i might just turn this old computer into a server

You realize I put that up as a point to build off of, as I said: "hammered out" if he wants to spend all 1000 dollars I can easily up the CPU and GPU. It was in no way a Final Build.
Ghostofme, what will that run Crysis/Fallout 3 at?
Gimme a good benchmark on the system in general really

I realized that, but if you're going to post a PC build, make sure you post a final draft. Otherwise it ruins the point of posting it in the first place.

There, added a case, it's now a Phenom II with a 5870, which will be faster by about 15% over the one Ghost linked. This will pull at least 20% more in the marks listed on Crysis and Fallout 3.

I've edited my build, I posted the wrong CPU/motherboard.
I like Gweasel, i like
What OS will you be using? I would hope Windows 7 so that you can take advantage of DX 11

It will run Fallout 3 extremely easy and Crysis will run good.

Don't even worry about DX11 right now.
Lol, those were the charts I was just about to post, you got the fps stats down. Nice that I don't have to.
I like Gweasel, i like
NOOOOOOOOO get ghostofme's build instead much better cpu and the graphics are right next to each other. Also ghostofme's doesn't have crappy parts.
I like Gweasel, i like
The Xeon X3440 is a core i7 for much cheaper.
Core i7s destroy a 925.
[editline]11:13PM[/editline]
Plus my build is cheaper than his.
[editline]11:13PM[/editline]
With an awesome case. :smug:

Excuse me? Crappy parts? I considered going for a P55 base, but thought against it because it wouldn't be a large advantage in what the OP intends to do. Also, ghost's build has half the HD space, OP wanted 1 TB.

The ECS mobo also his build could easily get more hard drive space and still be a better deal.

Easy enough, I'll just switch out the HDD for a 1TB, it would still be cheaper than yours.
FYI: ECS makes shit motherboards.

All modern motherboards come with integrated sound.

Also, you can build a "great" computer for $500.
Will it be "great" for gaming? Probably not, but it will still be a "great" computer.
My bad, didn't even notice the motherboard, now the link is fixed, full build, with case, and a 7200 RPM HD.
