Some have mentioned that moving to a country in the EU other than the UK can be a better option to elude the whip of austerity. For someone in the UK, how can they move to Germany? And what would it be for their employment/social security rights? Are they expected to find a job/work without any social assistance? What about workfare in Germany -- or in other EU nations for that matter -- ? Likewise, what of disability/incapacity support also? Thanks!
Someone from the UK can live in any European country whenever they want, it's under your Freedom of Movement right, you don't need to meet any requirements to live there.
What about social security eligibility? In the UK, jobs can be very scarce and benefit sanctions can be extremely harsh, to the point where one can receive no support for not being able to "adequately" fulfill work requirements. Is there an indefinite safety net in places like Germany or France, or at least a better pool of jobs?
The official site of the European Union should be pretty informative (and most importantly, accurate) regarding that http://europa.eu/eu-life/index_en.htm http://europa.eu/eu-life/residence-rights/index_en.htm
