What, they couldn't afford a Game of Thrones actor? 0/10, worst game of the decade
i don't give a fuck who voices them as long as they're good When will people understand this
It sucks but there are two reasons why this is being done: 1. The additional PR for having such actors hired from known shows will drive sales and gives additional marketing. 2. People recognize the names more than actual known voice actors that aren't Nolan North. but the thing that really sucks is that actual competent voice actors get left out and the game studio/publisher ends up paying humongously more money because they pay for the names rather than the actual abilities. And I hate this too.
That usually doesn't bode well because it's a huge budget strain for a trivial reason Let's hope WBG just has money to burn and didn't siphon it from other game departaments
Sometimes an inexperienced or otherwise average voice actor can be raised up by good direction. Tonantzin Carmelo and Peter Mensah played Kendra and Hammond respectively in Dead Space with no major prior voice acting parts on their imdb profiles but they did a fantastic job of it, to the point where neither of them sounded out of place next to more regular voice actors like Keith Szarabajka or Brian Bloom. The game's sound design is great from top to bottom too, so I can't help but think that the Audio Director Don Veca was responsible for getting a good performance out of everyone. On the other hand, The Evil Within had a similar situation with a few TV actors having top billing. Anson Mount and Jennifer Carpenter practically sleepwalk through their roles as Sebastian and Kidman, and Jackie Earle Haley gets by because his character Ruvik practically talks to himself at all times. Yuri Lowenthal's portrayal of yet another nervous young man in peril helps make the experience even more jarring because he sounds like he's actually trying and his character is responsible for nearly all of the dialogue with the player characters across the game and two DLCs. Shadow of War could go either way.
