My pops took a sip of rubbing alcohol instead of water by accident when taking his medicine. This is no joke, I'm not that worried because he said that it was only a sip, but hes 78, should I be worried/taking steps here?

I don't think its too serious unless he drank a lot of it. He will get sick, that's a given, but he probably won't die unless he drank a lot of it.

Since rubbing alcohol is denatured alcohol isn't it undrinkable? I suggest you go to the ER before seeing any effects, just in case.

He'll be fine if it is only one small gulp. In a few minutes, he will start to get diarrhea and/or vomiting , which will hopefully get rid of the "undigested" alcohol.
But just in case, tell him to drink a can of beer (or two). That's how you treat alcohol misconsumption by having more edible alcohol than an inedible alcohol in your body.
