I have a Gigabyte EX58-UD4P motherboard, and in my opinion, the sound I hear from it in my speakers is good. So I want to know, what are the reasons to buy a good sound card? What are the benefits?
HD quality sound, record your sound with Fraps and or Hypercam.
Damn, Hypercam records from my mic, and not from my PC.

Mid-high end sound cards can drastically improve sound quality whilst taking a small load off of the CPU. However, if you're not much of an audiophile, then there isn't much point.
I like music, but I'm not like addicted to high quality, I'm more of liking aceptable quality.
I find nothing wrong with integrated sound.
The day I have alot of money to waste on nothing, I'm gonna buy a highend sound card just to see the difference.

That's what I think as well, but if I see it makes a big difference... maybe.. maybe..
If you have some cheap 2.1 speakers, or a cheap pair headset/pair of headphones then you won't notice the difference. If you invest in a nice pair of speakers and or headphones then the difference can be considerable.
What is cheap, is G51 considered cheap?
No those are good. This is cheap:

Link for all those wondering.
The only point you would want a fucking sound card is if your getting good a good pair/pack of 2 or 5 channel sound and you wanna go above 48khz overwise intergrated is fine.
Also why we are on topic here. is it me or is vista breaking my Auligy 2 sound card >_>
A nice £30 set of 2.1 speakers will work great with integrated sound
I think I'll stick with integrated sound then.
I don't personally own a sound card, but one day my friend brought over his computer and he has a sound card in his. I had the G51 speakers, so we plugged them into his comp and tried Slam by Pendulum. There was no distortion, the EQ was on Loudness, whenever I have it plugged into my computer, there's some distortion because of integrated sound.
I might get a soundcard later on in my PC life.
If you have a decent amplifier and speakers you will hear the difference, There's nothing wrong with integrated sound (The newest realtek incarnations are actually quite good) but I distinctly find I have a lower noise floor and less harsh high end when using my outboard firewire gear.
To play games like Q4, BF2, BF2142, Prey, and UT3 that use Creative's EAX HD.
Unless you have good speakers and really care about the sound or are a musician then there's not much point.
Low latency asio support, lower floor noise like someone above said, higher sample rate and bit rate.
Basically only someone who is going to be doing music production and audio editing really needs to know this stuff.

This is the main reason I like my sound card, the EAX effects do make a difference in games that support it.
