Thing is 4k isn't that tough for most upper connections. Obviously if you're on a value plan it's a problem but, 1080p on youtube, depending on how competent the uploader is can look really good. And that's perhaps 7mbps, We could get by with 25mbps for 4k streaming. Even then that's probably plenty.
Depends how much power is allocated to the compression.
Where is the link!
i need this shit now
Isn't Netflix supposed to be rolling out something around 4K for select Tvs and ISPs in the US?

Average connection here in Japan is about 100-160mbps so that sounds about right.
My internet is not ready!
I've been disconnected 6 times. A total of 6 times my downstream has cut out forcing my modem to completely reset itself. And I'm only HALF finished downloading Rift.
My internet cannot stream 1080, or 720. I don't even think I have the speed to stream 4k let alone the reliability
This is great stuff for the lucky ones, but I live in the fastest growing place in Florida, and our internet is still 1999. It's so bad that I fucking WISH I had comcast again

Bullshit, i can't even watch 480p without buffering on 5mbps.
1080p only requires about .9mb/s

I'm on 6mbps and I can stream 1080p, get some better pipes.
4K doesn't necessarily require a very high speed connection. Depends on the compression rates.

ISP's tend to throttle video.

Anecdotal. Your connection likely either isn't good or you happen to not connect to a good server.
