okay so about a month ago I did a power-point presentation project for my science class. Me and my partner had divided the project in two, each of us to do one half. My friend sent me his half, a plain, boring slideshow with a few sentences each slide detailing his part of the project. It was merely titled, "Swag".
I promptly set about fixing it up with decorations, slide variations, pictures, and upgrading my partner's sentences into well thought out paragraphs. I even spent an hour photo shopping a picture for it (on MS paint!). overall, I'd say it took me about four hours. maybe five. I saved it as the same name, thinking it would overwrite the Swag and obliterate it out of existence.
Eventually, there were three copies of the project, one on my laptop floating around in the library, one in my school folder, and one on my removable disc.
Come presentation day, I hooked my laptop up to the over head projector and selected the file that I thought to be my well made project, aptly titled "ap_project".
I got Swag.
A little embarrassed (because everyone could see it on the projector) I said, oh, that's just the rough draft. Everyone laughed at the Swag. I pulled open the removable disc file and selected 'ap_project.'
Again, Swag.
Oops, sorry. I said, that's just [name censored]'s swag there. I'll have the real project soon. I went to start and searched for 'ap_project'. I clicked on the result.
Swag.
This continued for a little while until my teacher intervened and asked me if I even had anything to present. Seeing as the Swag was only partially done, I said no.
we were sent to our seats and got a 50 for the project.
Basically, the project was overwritten somehow by the old draft, even though (or perhaps because) I overwrote Swag with the final project. My draft, the swag-free one, was completely and utterly lost.
So I ask this. What happened? Why? Can it be reversed? Can I save my project and bring up my grade?
(I'm trying to recover it so long after it happened because my mom is getting on my ass about it)
Recuva would be your last bet I suppose, if anything is left of your project it should show up in it, I seriously doubt that it's still complete though.

Thank you. If anything works, this probably will. But I honestly doubt it even exists at all anymore.
