Tried to update my drivers, shit hit the fan and now my computer bsod's every time I try to start it

It gives me two options at startup: startup repair, which pretends to do stuff for 20 minutes before saying it cannot repair the problems, and normal startup, which bsod's after the "welcome to windows" screen.
I'm running windows 7.
I had a virus a long time ago and in the process of fixing it I messed up my registry values, no idea if that had anything to do with how installing drivers fucked me up so massively.
Any additional information needed I will be happy to provide, I've been meaning to replace this fucked up hard drive for a while, but now I can't even access my data to get it off
Help!

Try restarting.
Did you try starting in safe mode?

I wanted to, but no option was given. I pressed f8 as it was starting up (which should bring it up iirc) but nothing happened and it proceeded to the blue screen as usual
As you say, It sounds like you already get a BSOD before the hard drive loads the root programs of Windows?

It crashes after sitting at the "starting windows" screen with the windows logo that flies together and glows for a while, I'm not sure where that is in "loading root programs"
Have you tried accessing the drive from another computer to see if you can get at the data?
If it's getting that far it sounds like a crash whilst loading drivers.
Just spam f8 as soon as the POST finishes.
Sounds like one of the drivers is having a hissy fit.
Safe mode got me in! My stuff is safe once more.
While on the topic, is it possible for me to reverse the damage the drivers caused without reinstalling windows? I'd use system restore, but the aforementioned botched virus removal broke it.

Try system repair using your Windows installation DVD, if that virus can even break that your screwed.
