• Needing help with selecting a GPU

I have a quite powerfull computer, yes quite. Only quite powerfull due to an old component which happens to bottleneck the whole thing. That thing happening to be my Nvidia 9800 GT. It sucks away all the joy of having a Quad-core processor. So can this department of FacePunch help me with choosing a new graphics card for my computer, or should I just wait for the ATI Radeon HD 7xxx series? [editline]22nd October 2011[/editline] P.S. Dosh isn't a limit at the moment.
580
What CPU do you have and what power supply do you have?
What quad do you have out of curiosity?
If there is no limit for money go for the best GPU.
Meh. I wouldn't, before we get the "there is always new tech on the Horizon" discussion going. When you are "close to a new release" and you don't mind waiting. The 6990 are dropping in Price in my country and the 7000 are coming "soon". So if you want something nice get a 6970 or 6990, loud beast which I got or wait and get them cheaper.
Getting a 590/6990 is stupid don't do that, get a GTX 570 or if money really isn't an option a GTX 580. This is assuming your powersupply can handle it.
A GTX 570 it is. And if there is space left / performance on the powersupply I might set my 9800GT to deal with PhysX tasks.
Don't do that, it will bottleneck and reduce performance.
