Metro 2033 crash on start up help.

I have googled the problem, updated my drivers and put a crack over the original .exe.

I can't seem to get this thing working.

Help would be very much appreciated.

I bought the steam version and I thought it might be something to do with the .exe

So you bought the game off Steam, and used a crack...

Yes, because I thought the crash may have resulted because of a faulty .exe
