• A good surround sound system for a PS3?

So facepunch, could you recommend me a decent surround (5.1) sound system (only receiver and speakers) for around 400$ or less? So far Onkyo ht-s 3305 seems to be the best choice. Anyone has experience with it or should I buy something else? And one more question: is it possible to make the rear speakers wireless?

Of course, I picked up a nice 5.1 Pioneer receiver and decent speakers for $25 used. The only experience I've had with Onkyo is an amplifier I put on my Yamaha receiver to drive my big speakers. :v:

Well shit son, I'm looking for the equivalent available in Europe but its either out of your price range or unavailable. I'd sell you a nice Pioneer deck, except for... I don't really want to. How's about this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Onkyo-HT-S5305B-Receiver-Speaker-Package/dp/B003H9NHXS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291847292&sr=8-1
I use the Logitech Z-5500 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121120&Tpk=Z5500 The sound is perfect. and it goes up to 11. The bass on this thing is crazy if you want to use it for music.

I'm not sure if that's what OP was talking about, but yes, it does have a rather nice control center. One of my teachers has that exact set of speakers. Just get this, hook it up, and you're good to go.

The audio quality from optical cables is simply outstanding. If OP doesn't really require a full out receiver and just wants to use it for audio from his PS3, then the Z5500 will be perfect.

Yeah this looks good, but is it still possible to make it wireless(perhaps with some 3rd party device) (key thing because my parents wouldnt like cables all around the room)?
Just go find a recent used/open box receiver and some speakers. It should work fine for what you are trying to do.
