Hopefully this will give people incentive to not start terrible projects they won't finish
I don't think it's something you can accurately predict, to be perfectly honest, the amount that gets pledged usually depends on what's being promised, and by whom.
Though I certainly think people will be more cautious to kick-start projects than they have previously.
I'm definitely not backing any game on kickstarter anymore. I backed planetary annihilation and they fucked it up royally despite looking like a solid project (they had a team that worked on lots of previous RTS's for example).
There's no way I'm backing any video games anymore because there's been far too many blunders. I don't know what it's like for books or any other projects though.
It's a shame we might have to miss out on some great sounding games because people are more reluctant to back Kickstater campaigns. Flagship is one that's going on at the moment that doesn't seem to be doing too well, despite their being nothing to suggest there will be any problems with the game. It's a unique idea (a first person space RTS) which hasn't really been done before but it's not getting a lot of attention, and because of that it's not even half way towards their goal and it has under 2 weeks left.
