• Laptop screen suddenly starts flickers and tearing. Is my laptop dying?

Decided to load up a mod and play with a friend today. All was well til I started noticing that the bottom of the screen started randomly flickering. I shut off my laptop after seeing it in case it was overheating. Well about 30 minutes later, I rebooted it and I noticed the screen has a bit of a red tint and then starts randomly flickering and tearing. I've only had this laptop for two and an half years. The only problem I've noticed the past week is a "POWER_STATE FAILURE" Blue screen. My laptop is a refurbished Gateway FX with a Geforce 9800M GTS. It does get hot now and then but I mostly have the room cool. EDIT: Bit of an update: This problem seems to only extend to the laptop screen. I have no trouble running off a hdmi cable at all
I have had this problem recently with a clients laptop, found that a system restore fixed the blue screens and the screen issue is something you might want want to look into replacing the screen itself...
You may have got the display connector slightly undone, that the display will show weird colours, artifacts and whatsoever. Just because of a disturbed signal output. Or like hatton700 said before he got banned, the display's circuit board may be ruined.
i get similar problems if i put my phone on a specific spot in front of the screen make sure you don't have any wireless things interfering with something
Lift up the keyboard if you're feeling up to it and check the connection between the screen and the circuit board, if it's tight, then your screen is probably going out. Hope for a loose connection because changing the screen out is quite a bit more involved than checking for a loose wire. It's still doable if you're careful though.
Your better off removing the display connector, cleaning both connectors from any dust and debris and plug it in again. Oh and it's not a big deal to start it up when halfly disassembled.
