The top setting is ‘extreme quality’. It runs the game at 1440p
I was thinking "WTF are they serious?" when I read this. Maybe they are downsampling from that resolution or something? But what if you already have 1440p or higher res screen?
Then I checked actual source and 1440p is only mentioned in explanation of recommended specs:
1) The “Recommended Spec” is not the spec that is required to run the game on full max quality settings at 1440p. It is a spec which we believe gives you a good experience of the game as we’d recommend it is played. If you have better hardware you will get better results.
Another case of PCGamesN halfwits lacking reading comprehension.

Also it's weird how the new TW only has 4X MSAA, lacking 2X and 8X settings.
...don't they use that very same quote in their article, just turned "better hardware=better results" into "that's for mid-range"?
Or did one of the sneakier PCGamesN writers just read your post and fix it?
Are they sure it's just not broken as fuck again?

They have edited it , yes.
So aren't there individual settings to set or is it just One slider. That's what this article makes it sound like
I still say E:TW is the best TW game, but only with Darth Mod. Medieval 2 is a close second
Settings made for hardware that doesn't exist yet means Unoptimized. I guess this is going to be 2015's excuse. We're moving on from "Cinematic" to "Future Proofing"
