Was Israel's attack on the Freedom flotilla reasonable? I'm just wondering what the majority of people here on facepunch actually thinks about it. Go here for the news item, and explanation. http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=946164
The what now I don't pay attention to news, fill me in real quick. What's a freedom flotilla
I've put a link in the main post.
Not only was this attack avoidable but they have the nerve to act as if nothing at all wrong happen. They share the sea with what 24-ish countries I don't remember how many. And they pick this ship as a target. Obsoletely ridiculous. [editline]02:58AM[/editline] Yahoo News http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100531/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_israel_palestinians
It sort of saddens me our government is still backing this country.
ok i live tens of thousands of miles from were this happened and i've read one news article on it
The fact is... the facts aren't out. Anyway, Facepuch is biggoted and couldn't give a rats ass about what happened, and so the results are always going to be "No". Voted for don't know yet.
No.
We have to wait until we have some concrete facts.
We have to wait until we have some concrete facts.
Depends. If it was international waters and they boarded a ship, they pretty much had the rights to beat them up, as if it was piracy. At least that's what I've understood.
Absolutely not.
Depends. If it was international waters and they boarded a ship, they pretty much had the rights to beat them up, as if it was piracy.
The international definition of piracy requires a ship to be boarded by a "private crew". The IDF Navy is not a private crew.
Ah right, i see. I still don't find it reasonable though.
No. I dont give a fuck what their laws are, firing on peace workers is just fucking barbaric. They didn't even bother with non lethal methods, there was a whole other bunch of ways to stop the boat.
They didn't shoot until one of the commandos was shot by their own weapon.
That's what they claim. It could be wrong, but of course also right. I just don't think that there's enough material to prove this, and still, why did 10 persons die just because one commando got shot? It doesn't make much sense (to me at least).
why are you forming opinions when you just said theres not enough material
why are you forming opinions when you just said theres not enough material
As i already said in the post, ten/nine people was killed, not just the one who supposedly took the weapon.
