Resident evil movies are a prime example of this.

Wasn't Pyramid Head intended to represent James' sexual frustrations against his sick wife?
What relevance did it have in the first Silent Hill movie, and now this one?
The movies already have a muddled story anyway. At least they aren't going mentally off track and completely changing it up like Resident Evil Extinction and everything after it.
In my opinion, they really fucked the sequel up. The first one ended perfectly and they could have easily done a movie remake of Silent Hill 2 instead of skipping it and going directly to SH3.
[sp]At the end of the first movie, Sean Bean loses his wife & daughter in Silent Hill. The second movie could take place a few years after where they have been missing ever since, but then Sean Bean gets a letter from her telling him to come to Silent Hill to find her.[/sp]
Bam, easy, second movie based off the second game. Fucking movie producers.
What's with all the games with "Revelation" in their name?
Assassin's Creed, Resident Evil, and now Silent Hill? This is getting really dull.
Also, Revelations 2012.

I'm still perplexed as to why they didn't make one with Sean Bean as the main guy. He'd be a perfect James/Harry.

Revelations, Genesis, Ultimatum etc etc
All generic names that try and make something sound cryptic or intelligent when really they have no relevance to the product. It's what's "in" these days with marketing.
Did the game with the prison convict come out already?
If it did they're just pumping out Silent Hill shit too quick, they've pretty much ruined the franchise already.

Say what you will, but I thought Downpour was the best Silent Hill game since SH3. It wasn't perfect, but it seemed like an honest try.

Is it worth buying?
Oh my god this movie looks terrible.
Yeah the enemy designs are the stupidest/laziest designs I've ever seen. I've forgiven the combat because every Silent Hill game has had pretty bad combat. Wishing for good combat in a Silent Hill game is too much to ask for.
The absolutely most important thing about Downpour is that I feel like it understood the principle that Silent Hill 2 set where Silent Hill is everybody's own personal hell. Because of this, the otherworld sequences are pretty dang unique. The atmosphere can be very eerie and I thought the story was pretty good. Downpour is it's own Silent Hill game; it's unique, and doesn't try to cop out and borrow from the movie, continue on from the original games, or try to remake them. I think Silent Hill fans would enjoy it the most if you understand that principle.
The cop cars were so silly, too.
Oh my god this movie looks terrible.
It doesn't look terrible, its just a shame that they don't put the wonderful story and lore of the game itself in the movie or without cutting everything away from it
at least its not resurrection

The franchise went from being absolutely fantastic to being kinda shit from 3 onwards. Although it has a lot to do with the original team leaving. As a fan of the series the entire notion of it being a silent hill film in the sense that it was loyal to the games is wishful thinking, the people in Hollywood love mangling original plot for their own money making devices. As video game movies go however Silent Hill is enjoyable fun and at least the art department are trying to keep to the original style.
I really do think that a real script for a silent hill movie would be rejected, the closest we will ever get is the brilliant Jacobs Ladder.

What Mabus said. The original team hasn't worked on Silent Hill since the fourth one. Once they left Konami they started working on Siren
The one thing I like most about the movies is that Akira Yamaoka works with them. He was the composer and also one of the producers for the Silent Hill games, so he was a big part of the series. Not exactly like the games, but there aren't too many original ideas either, which could be really good or really bad.

The fuck you talking about?

I don't give a FUCK what anyone says, I loved the first movie, and I'm going to probably love this one. This is my opinion.
Also I heard some Akira Yamaoka at 0:20. One of my favorite tracks from the second game - Promise (Reprise)
I hate the Silent Hill movie so goddamn much.
It's bad, but it's probably one of the best video game movies out there.
at least it used music from silent hill and not linkin park or some shit
why is vincent some teenage guy, why is pyramid head there
this movie isn't going to be very good
I hope they don't have many CGI monsters, most of the monsters from the first film were costumes.
HOLY SHIT, is that Jon Snow?
And Sean Bean!
damn it Snow get back on the wall
Ok, I really liked the first Silent Hill movie. I really hope they don't screw this one up. Silent Hill was probably one of the only movies I like that was based off a game.
the bastard is in this.
Well, the story doesn't look as bad as the first movie. It also appears to follow the SH3 story a bit.
I'm slightly looking forward to this.
I'm going to see it because I couldn't care less about the games and it looks cool.
I'm going to see it because I couldn't care less about the games and it looks cool.
I care about the games and I'm still going to see this. People are just too butthurt over the story not being 100% exact to the games but fact is first movie was actually pretty decent throwing aside that it does not stay true to the game story-wise.
The first is literally the only good game-movie out there. I mean seriously people can't see past OMG NOT SAME STORY and just look at it as an actual film hence all the hate.
