• In need of a New Gaming Mouse.

Several weeks ago I got myself a new computer, and since then I`ve noticed that I`m in desperate need of a new gaming mouse. This beast is my current mouse. I got it free of charge with a Laptop Bag I bought a few years ago. (calling it a "beast" is a total lie) While it works great for it's size, I'm looking for something a tad bit better. I'm kind of leaning towards a Logitech G9, mostly because it's the only gaming mouse I've spent any real time using. I'm mainly looking for something with buttons on the side, like the G9 above, and an easily accessible DPI adjuster so I can change the sensitivity on the fly in a game. Anyone care to give me some other recommendations?
Steelseries XAI / MX518 / G500
Use a car shaped mouse like me, become God. Yes, I have a car shaped mouse. It's surprisingly ergonomic. I only bought it because it was like £3. :v:
I highly recommend the Logitech G500. Macro buttons. Smooth scrolling toggle. Sensitivity buttons. Weight cartridge, so you can choose what is comfortable to you.
This thread again? get an MX518 / G400
MX518 is good
Steelseries XAI / MX518 / G500
The Steelseries looks a little Bland, but that's just me. The MX518 and G500, on the other hand, both look very nice. I actually know somebody who's had an MX518 sitting boxed on a shelf for years now as a backup mouse, in-case he ever needs it... Maybe I could convince him to open it up and let me test it. It has a nice shape, and everything looks accessible. The only problem I'd have would be that little button sitting behind the scroll wheel. I assume it lets the wheel move freely?
MX518 is deactivated on Newegg.
The Steelseries looks a little Bland
Yeah, it kind of does look a little bland but it's a superb mouse nonetheless. I would personally go for an Xai or an MX518.

I'll have to look into the Xai a little bit further... Can't judge a mouse based on it's looks.
Use a car shaped mouse like me, become God. Yes, I have a car shaped mouse. I like the Zowie EC1/EC2 mice.
Except you. Your mouse is shit.
B-b-b-but it's RED. It also has blue headlights for some reason. :v:
B-b-b-but it's RED.
Oh wait. That's blood. [editline]13th July 2011[/editline]
I like the Zowie EC1/EC2 mice.
My first opinion is that they both look very much like that Steelseries Xai aclonegeek linked me to.
I have G500, you won't regret buying it
MX518 is deactivated on Newegg.
Buy it somewhere else. Throw in another vote for the mx518. (Or anything Logitech, they seem to have some of the best build quality in devices I have ever seen.)
WHAT IS AUTOMERGE. Speaking of the Steelseries, It's actually a lot nicer than I originally thought. It still lacks some buttons that I'm really looking for, but I could probably set up the two buttons on the right side of the mouse to do that job. Very nice. [editline]13th July 2011[/editline] I'm curious, has anyone ever actually tried one of these things? It's a tad bit rediclous, but it's just interesting looking. Looks like someone just bashed a load of scrap metal together.

Is that a 3.5 audio jack?
That looks really awkward to put your hand on. Is that a 3.5 audio jack?
I believe it's an Allan key, The rigid metal thing sticking out at the back right of the picture, and two little places to adjust with the key, the other two metal holes on the back left. The other metal cylinder that's more towards the front than the rest of them is some kind of scroll wheel. Not sure what you'd use it for. I might just go out see what I can find from this thread at a local store, take em home, try em out and return the ones I don't like. Is that legal? I don't know. Do I care? Nope.

Big clunky m1 and m2 buttons along with the giant scroll wheel make this nice to use. That and it looks like it belongs on a fighter jet.
xai, g9x, intellimouse, wmo, deathadder pick one
Logitech MX518. I saw that they have rebranded it as the G400 and started selling them again. MX518 G400
Using a MX518, really comfortable and responsive. Highly recommend it.
MX518 on the cheap, G500/G9x on the midside, or the G700 for the high end.
xai, g9x, intellimouse, wmo, deathadder pick one
Intellimouse and wmo are just generic bargain store mice, are they not? You're also the first person to recommend something from razor. Quite surprised at that.
Intellimouse and wmo are just generic bargain store mice, are they not? You're also the first person to recommend something from razor. Quite surprised at that.
no, they aren't the deathadder has better tracking than every logitech mouse besides the g9x
no, they aren't the deathadder has better tracking than every logitech mouse besides the g9x
Well, I don't know what you were looking up. Give me a link to them both if you have the time, as a Google search only brings up the latest and greatest in outdated pieces of junk. The Deathadder looks nice.. And if I remember correctly, there's actually one set up on demo at a nearby electronics store. I'll have to go and give it a try. [editline]14th July 2011[/editline]
MX518 on the cheap, G500/G9x on the midside, or the G700 for the high end.
The G700 looks like complete overkill for me buttonwise, unless I was playing something where I need a ton of buttons and wanted to replace some of the keyboard actions.
g400 or a deathadder, the g500 has a wonky scroll button and the side buttons can be annoying for some people. the g400 however still has the angle snapping issue that the mx518 had. Note that the deathadder might not work after maybe 2 years of usage, razer products are notorious for having short lifespans, but it's a great mouse. also to whoever suggested an mx518 or a g400, they're the same mouse. The g400 is just an updated version with a higher dpi, less horrible looks, and slight changes to the scrollwheel. [editline]14th July 2011[/editline]
WHAT IS AUTOMERGE. Overly expensive, though, and pretty damn gimmicky.
it's a fairly high-quality mouse, and surprisingly comfortable given the looks of the thing. Overly expensive, though, and pretty damn gimmicky.
I can see how it would be gimmicky just by the way it was built. The whole Allan key to adjust different parts thing could have easily been replaced with clamps on each moving part which you press a button to adjust. Although I assume the metal pieces would equal more durability in the longrun. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for one of these as a display model as well, just to see if I can get my hands on it before making any decisions.
