Well at least we wont be installing more motherboards so we can download ram for better pr0 visual basic hacking
"really hardcore experts on hacking"
I know that is actually true, but I can't help sniggering a bit at the wording.
Would be funny if they showed you some basic C-ish code and you need to find some exploit like memory overflows or something.
As much as I am hyped for this game it all just sounds like PR crap.

I think it's nice they consult actual security experts about terminology and such. Otherwise you're constantly rolling your eyes during the course of the game. You wouldn't want it to be CSI level of tech magic, would you.

I think this is appropriate. :v:
Comparing this game to real-life hacking will be like comparing Spore to actual evolution.
isnt kasperky the company whose ceo was murdered, or murdered someone??

But it really works! I shoved some wings on my cat and it can fly now!
quick, run spyeye!
(thatd be pretty funny though!)

That was McAfee

Nah that as McAfee with the batshit crazy CEO, Kaspersky Lab is just a Russian based security company with one of the largest virus databases currently standing.
If you want to know about security flaws and viruses they are one of the big players in that area to ask about it.
Glad to see Ubisoft is spending time to get things somewhat realistic.

Yeah, I hope this doesn't succumb to Peter Molyneux Syndrome, IE the marketing makes the game seem way more amazing than it is
I guess this can go either way. It's a cool thing to do, but I don't think realistic hacking, with everything it involves, would make for a very entertaining gameplay mechanic...
All the kids would be like "THATS NOT HOW YOU HACK BRO, TRUST ME I HACKED A CAMERA. THIS IS WHAT YOU REALLY DO K BRO? GET IT RIGHT"
after playing this game.
Realistic hacking would take forever.
Seems misleading to me. If it was actually hacking, it'd just be you sitting at your computer for 3 hours trying to find a vulnerability. More realistically they're probably just asking if their terminology sounds retarded or not, which is at least good I guess. Or maybe as you level up you just unlock new methods of hacking, like SQL injection, or ARP poisoning.
Why not take a cue from Uplink? :v:

Marketing will always make a game seem way more amazing than it is. Realistically gameplay can only be so varied for a certain amount of development time, and people have a hard time grasping that when they set their expectations for a new game.
Kaspersky labs? Really?
Why did they choose one of the worst computer security company?
I'm not really sure how you can make hacking seem realistic when the cellphone is pretty much magic. Aiden just taps a few keys and suddenly shit happens. And why the fuck are things like lifts controllable with a cellphone?
I guess they're really just occasionally having some people look at some lines of dialogue and making sure they aren't talking about tracking people with GUIs made in VB or some stupid shit like that.

It's all handwaved by the fact that it's supposedly a good idea to link every single minor and major electronic or mechanical device to the city's main OS, which your character can hack.

I'd imagine the cellphone is just a macro to the ctOS Control Centers, which are linked to most remotely-controlled devices within their radius in order to provide widespread functionality in all devices, 24/7 surveillance, and assisting the law whenever possible with no conflicting data or translation. He doesn't actually hack into things using his phone, it's just a shortcut.
i think they just decided to skip all the bullshit and either the MC is doing super hacking through his phone, or his phone is simply loaded with hacking programs, or both.

why do we have to do the hacking? it would get fucking annoying considering you're going to be hacking lots of shit

Seeing as how whenever you manipulate objects it's instantaneous, I'm certain the hacking minigame will only be used for taking over bases or something like that.
Well, if there's one thing Ubisoft does well it's research.
Doubly, if there's one thing they do poorly it's computer stuff, like uPlay
