Is one able to use the Windows 7 Professional upgrade CD to upgrade from Windows Vista PREMIUM CD?
I'm talking about the upgrade version not full version. Mainly because it normally costs much less, and there is currently a student discount that makes the upgrade version only $30.
Also if I had a 32bit Vista Premium am I able to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit?

I don't think you can upgrade from Vista Premium to 7 Pro, but the upgrade CD's allow you to do a full installation rather than just a upgrade so you should try doing that.

Oh and yo cant upgrade from 32 to 64 bit, you have to do a full reinstall.
So will a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit upgrade CD work for me or not?
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit at the moment.
Did you read the link I gave you?

No.

According to your link I can't upgrade to professional from anything but Vista Business?
Then that's probably the case.
I know you could upgrade RTM from RC when they said you couldn't but that was due to a cversion.ini modification (which relied on build numbers), I'm not very confident you could do that across editions though.
If you're making a purchasing decision based on this info, then I wouldn't risk the cash unless you can be sure - I didn't turn anything up with a quick google, but you might have more luck than me.
Can I do what this guy did with the upgrade pro 64 CD?

I had a vista business upgrade disk, I used to be able to just install vista (it doesn't ask for the key when you install it) then upgrade from vista to vista (this makes no sense, but it works). Once this is done I could enter the vista upgrade key I had.
I'm not sure if it still works on windows 7
Actually,
More information about 3 methods (including the one above) working on windows 7 here

You can use the Upgrade disk just as long as there's a copy of Windows XP, Vista or 7 on the hard drive when the setup starts.
So you can use an upgrade disk to go from 32bit Vista to 64bit 7, you'll just have to do a full install.
But the problem is that I don't know if I'll be able to upgrade from Premium to Pro.

No, you wont be able to do an upgrade install from Vista Home Premium to 7 Professional, you'll have to do the custom install.

Will the Upgrade CD work to do a custom install?
Bottom line:
If I have this on my computer: Windows Vista Premium 32 Bit
and I buy this: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Windows-7-Professional-Upgrade/dp/B002DHGM50/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1280590513&sr=8-1

Will I be able to custom install it? Is custom installation easy?

The upgrade disc will work just fine. I used it to go from Vista Basic 32 bit to 7 Home Premium 64 bit. The only difference between an upgrade install and a custom install is that the upgrade keeps your files and programs, while the custom does not.
Oh OK, most of my files are junk anyway, and I could just back them up.
Thanks for clearing that up guys!
