• Looking for new laptop

Hello, I am looking to buy a pre-built laptop that cost around 800 dollars, I will be using it for gaming mostly. Some high detail games I will probably be playing are. DayZ, Saints row the third, the fallout games, and maybe some of the call of duty games. I would like to get the best possible computer for this price but i dont have much experience with finding good gaming computers. I don't realy need anything other than a charger to go with the laptop. any help is apreciated ! Thanks and i am from canada,
I suggest this. Acer Aspire V3-551G-8454 Notebook AMD A-Series A8-4500M(1.90GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi AMD Radeon HD 7670M It's gotten great reviews.

Unfortunately it doesn't have any reviews, but you can probably find them elsewhere. Personally I've had great experiences with Sony VAIO.
Thank you both :D, and i was looking at the laptops on the Toshiba site and i was wondering, whats the difference in a quad core and something like flayne suggested, a i7 intel with 2ghz this is the one i was looking at, http://www.toshiba.ca/web/product.grp?lg=en&section=1&group=1&product=12805&category=

The i7 is a better choice overall in this case since all the laptops mentioned in this thread so far have had discrete graphics cards.
thank you, i didnt actually know that :o i thought the quad core would have been better, do you think that the i7 would be capable of running dayz or other high detail games on high detail settings?, the computer i have now can hardly run dayz on all of the lowest settings. and would this i7 with 2 ghz be better then say a i5 ? with 2.6ghz? on cpuboss they are both ranked 7.3/10

On that site it will give you various benchmarks and choose a winner (or declare it too close to call). If it is too close to call, then they probably actually are about the same. The Sony laptop should be able to run DayZ on reasonably high settings and at 1080p. On lower settings you will certainly have no trouble keeping a smooth frame rate.
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-3537U-vs-Intel-Core-i5-3230M-BGA1023 looks like the i5 beats in some things, and he i7 beats in some others. do you think i would be better off getting one of these ?, http://www.toshiba.ca/web/product.grp?lg=en&section=1&group=1&product=12802&category= http://www.toshiba.ca/web/product.grp?lg=en&section=1&group=1&product=13718&category= rather than the i7 ? the i5 seems to be getting a better ghz 0.6 more, and a higher gpu aswell, 650mhz and the i7 is getting 350mhz. they are both really close, and the i5 is only around 50-60 dollars cheaper. what do you think ?

Though the i5 might get you better performance in games, but it doesn't matter because both of those laptops by far won't. You won't use the processor's GPU if you have a discrete graphics card. Neither of those have discrete graphics card, so the Sony VAIO is definitely the better choice by far for the purpose of playing games. You should also keep in mind that just because a processor has a better clock speed doesn't mean its faster. For example, AMD's latest top of the line processor (for desktops that is) is the FX-8350. Intel's is the i7-3970X. The FX-8350 has eight cores and a clock speed of 4.0 (4.2 turbo) Ghz. The 3970X has six cores and a clock speed of 3.5 (4.0 turbo) Ghz. The 3970X is the fastest desktop processor in the world, and the 8350 is a budget processor (all of AMD's processors are). CPUboss actually puts them closer than I would ever even consider: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-3970X-vs-AMD-FX-8350 But if you look at the benchmarks, you can see the reason the 3970X is $1000.
Well it looks like im going to see about getting the sony vaio, thank you for the help :D. its out of stock :| i hope they get more before the price goes up. and i was wondering have you bought stuff from this site before ? i dont really trust many sites with online shopping especially for 800 dollars,

I also accidently ordered something from them twice (a combo pack containing RAM, PSU, processor, motherboard), and they got me a full refund and in general have fantastic customer service. Newegg is a great place. [editline]16th July 2013[/editline] If you want you can go with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834126031. It has a worse processor, but you shouldn't experience too much of a framerate drop with playing most (GPU intensive) games. Other than that it's pretty much identical and quite a bit less.
would this computer also be able to run high detail games on high settings ?, and truthfully my computer runs games like team fortress 2 (on low detail maps, like cp_orange) with 20 fps max, and about 6 or less fps when im getting shot at. so any computer i get will be a huge upgrade. I think im going to get that i5 that you suggested. i like the 2 day free delivery :D, But thank you for all the help, you really made picking a computer easyer!

I hope you enjoy your new laptop. I also made the transition between shitty ~15 FPS to a moderately awesome desktop computer, and I can tell you it's pretty fantastic.
Thank you :D, I really cant wait, it will probably be a few days before I order it but ill PM you when i get it and tell you how its working. and by the way, whats turbo boost? and how would i turn it on?

do you think since that i7 laptop was sold out i should goto the intel site, or like sony site and see about another i7 ?. Thanks, turbo boost seems like a good idea to have

Thanks, turbo boost seems like a good idea to have
Intel doesn't sell laptops. Sony might have more in stock, but the i5 based laptop would not give you much of a drop in performance. It's up to you.
