now port it to pc
[editline]8th May 2013[/editline]
oh you bastard
Now give it real co-op and it'll be better.
Seriously, the magic shit is useless if you're only supporting retarded AI.
Dragon's Dogma did a lot of things really well. I'd love to see a sequel that expands on the game's core concepts and mechanics because a lot of them are really solid.
I hope they put a bigger focus on Dragon's Dogma. I still haven't got Dark Arisen because of lack of funds but a sequel on next gen consoles could be great.

Are there sales numbers for Dragon's Dogma?
I still can't believe crap like Resident Evil 6 got a pc port but not this.
Add new content and refine some of the flaws, also the game needs better characters and dialogues. It's atrocious. Still I have invested tons of hours into this game and I don't regret it one bit.
The only thing I think Dragon's Dogma did poorly is enemy placements. I'm not a big fan of the same enemies being in the same place every time the world is repopulated. Also didn't really like the storage system, it seemed really cluttered, but I think I read that that was fixed in Dark Arisen.
Oh my, i gotta finish this.
I still cant get over how much fun its with ai in this game
My biggest gripe was the lack of a fast travel system (save for the port crystals)
My biggest gripe was the lack of a fast travel system (save for the port crystals)
dark arisen fixes that, i think. gives you a late game item that lets you do that
imo i think fast travel all the time with no penalty would ruin the game, because you'd just travel everywhere and not explore

Dark arisen sounds pretty sweet, guess I'll be picking it up

There is no new item, they just made ferrystones much cheaper and there are more port crystals. Unless you're talking about the eternal ferrystone which is just a ferrystone with unlimited uses. That one is only for people that transferred their original Dragon's Dogma save to Dark Arisen.

On its own, pretty mundane. But if you're like me and gather up several Port Crystals, you can make sure that just about every region of the map is quickly accessible with it. Its a bit expensive if you don't know where to look for the Port Crystals that exist in the world already, but its worth it if you don't want to worry about long travel times or have an escort quest with a particularly stupid follower.
All this Dragon's Dogma talk is making me want to buy Dark Arisen.
Shit, I bought vanilla DD just two or three weeks ago :C
A surprise hit? Maybe because it isn't trying to appeal to a mass fuckwit audience and didn't completely ruin a franchise?
Maybe because the developers spent a lot of time on it and actually knew what the fuck they were doing?
Who knew people liked good games that didn't have to appeal to some sort of specific trendy demographic?

This so much. It was the first game to get vaguely close to getting powerful magic right IMO. But with the huge charge times for spells, the AI being unable to protect you properly or distract an enemy really put sorcerers at a disadvantage.
Co-op might be nice, but it doesn't really fit into the game, there aren't a million Arisen in the world, just the player and a couple others, they just need to make pawns more sensitive to roles and they'd be fine.

[editline]8th May 2013[/editline]
Seriously, they could just call it something like "Rift Chalk" or "Rift Ink" and say that an Arisen has to spend a small amount of Rift Crystals to write or read messages left by other Arisen.

Yeah, that'd work, maybe explained ingame as tablets from the rift, [sp]left by other Arisen in different cycles.[/sp]

Or we could maybe not completely rip a mechanic from the Souls series.
The only big problems I had with it were the dumb as shit pawns and bad frame rates. The combat is one of the most satisfying and diverse systems. The world is kind of sparse, but at least it's realistically done, not cramped as shit like Skyrim, where a new quest to sate your ADD is ten steps away. I really, really would want a sequel before a PC port, if not both at the same time.

How about just having it so other player's characters join as 'special' Pawns in eachother's games, which stays within the game's logic rather easily?
I really REALLY hope the next one comes out on PC. I get so jelly watching those boss battles on youtube. Maybe the reason it didn't get ported to PC is the same reason RDR didn't, code was just too delicate, and would take far too much work too be worth it.
I think people are forgetting the biggest issue of DD. It's not the lack of a PC port, it's not the lack of Co-op and not the lack of anything at all.
It's the inability to get the pawns to shut the hell up.
GOBLINS, MASTER

You can tell your pawn to talk less if you use the chair in the inn. Dark Arisen also reduces how often pawns speak.
This game kicked my ass.
Then it kicked it again.

Are you saying there's no incentive to explore stuff in DD what are you on crack or something
