• laptop overheats when I play Metro 2033

this is the only game that causes my laptop to overheat and shut down. I've cleaned the fans/keyboard/etc with compressed air b/c they were dusty, and that improved performance a lot, but it eventually overheated again. :( I've got a Toshiba Qosmio X505 [url]http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptops/qosmio/X500[/url] any help? I'm dumb when it comes to this kind of stuff.
Turn your settings down in game? I mean you are playing one of the most demanding games on a laptop... overheating is to be expected. Just try turning the settings down and get decent airflow to the CPU and Graphics Chip and you should be fine.
I turned them down all the way, still got the problem. it seemed to be running fine whether they were on high or low. [editline]13th March 2011[/editline] I'm now also getting 10fps when I play gmod. wow whathefuckfuharejgez
Try opening it up and cleaning the fan with some compressed air. My laptop litterally melted because it couldn't get sufficient air-flow.
My pc overheats to on that game. 2x4870 with scythe musashi coolers. Crysis on ultra(and any other game or Furmark)=60c Metro 2033=100c I really dont know what could cause this.

Metro 2033 is a very hardware demanding game. If you have a desktop use it instead. [editline]15th March 2011[/editline] Or Just try and clean your laptop.
Keep the laptop elevated, I used to put some books under it in the back, near the fan. I've never done this before but my friend says he once had to buy some thermal paste to apply on some components because the amount that was pre-applied had dried or something. I'd research that. But yeah, Metro 2033 isn't the best game to play on a laptop anyway, things tend to heat up with all the fancy graphics and processing, and laptops aren't typically designed to handle that much stress. It could reduce its lifetime in the long run, if you care.

I already cleaned the vents etc. my source games run better, along with a lot of other games. metro 2033 still overheats though. You're gay.
:(
get a cooling pad and reapply your tim
Alternatively, you can get the game to run in its Safe Mode. Allegedly, It can more than double performance.
