Building First PC ($1300ish) - Tips and Suggestions
3 replies, posted
Hi everyone! I'm building a PC in a few weeks and I'd like a few suggestions or opinions or whatnot at my current planned build. This is my first time building a PC from scratch but I've upgraded or tweaked parts a few times before. I'm setting a $1300 budget, but I wouldn't mind going a little higher:

I didn't include the thermal paste and Windows 7.
Any comments on what parts I could pick for better price efficiency is appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Forgot to mention, I'll be gaming and rendering with Blender with this build.
drop the sound card and squeeze the gtx 650 ti boost in its really cheap right now. no one has needed a sound card since the 90s unless they had a 9.1 surround system with 3d boost power omega science.
I do not have a 9.1 surround system with 3d boost power omega science, but I do mix and record sometimes and I wouldn't mind paying $20 extra for the sound card, but I do appreciate the suggestion!
First you are getting a locked processor (can't overclock) with a z87 motherboard (can overclock). Either get an H87 motherboard or the i7-4770k. I suggest you get either this:

or this:

The G45-Gaming has better sound quality, but the d3h has a better bios layout and more USB. I'm using the d3h now, and it's been pretty great.
That RAM will not work on your system. It has an operating voltage of 1.6, and you need 1.5 (or below). I suggest just going with 1600Mhz.
If you do get either of those combo deals, you should save enough to get a 650 ti boost as previously suggested.
