I remember this game. It sucks, and is infested with hackers. I wouldn't recommend it unless they (which I highly doubt) switched to VAC.
Loaded with hackers too.
I always considered this game to be right at the center when it comes to godawful P2W shooters.

Terrible engine, horrendously unbalanced (Hell, the devs even sponser spawn camping), and a shitty attempt at cloning COD, CS, and Battlefield at the same time in three different gamemodes.

Combat Arms is absolute dog-crap.
Not only is it pay-to-win, it's hilariously unbalanced, and the only way to level up is grind through "Fireteam" missions (Zombies or Terrorists, take your pick) or hack.
Seriously.

Here comes the rant, I want to get the wasted June of 2010 off of my chest.
First things first, the graphics and engine are horrible. At the time it was made, I could understand that the team was small and could barely keep hold of the few hundred members that joined every few days. However, now, in 2012, they have failed to update the engine and allow basic graphics controls, such as AA or even just screen resolution.
Then comes the "shop" system. Back on my old account in 2010, very few weapons were available to the standard market, meaning that most had to be bought with NexusPoints, or 1,000 per $2 or so dollars. However, at that time, many weapons were allowed to be purchased with GP (Gear Points) by normal, non-premium players. Now, they not only jacked up the prices on weapons that already had a massive price tag, they made amazing weapons that could lock in a win, but made them only available to premium members.
And now the servers. The good thing about them, is that they are small, private rooms that a player can host and modify to their liking. However, as mentioned before, players now have the option to purchase "Elite Moderator", and can kick or even ban people from their rooms. If one is lucky to find a non-tyrannical moderator, which is rare nowadays, they will be subject to playing a one-sided game, no matter what. One team will always have a gigantic lead over the other, there will be no real balance. The thing that also makes my blood boil, is the "megaphone" system. Originally, it was something you could purchase with IRL money to "Shout Out" something in lobby chats. But now, it's just requests for gifts or accusing someone of hacking. Also, it is no longer confined to lobby chat, it is also seen when you are in-game, and tends to become very annoying very fast, with no way of turning it off.
The game is a cluster of horrible coding, bad playerbase, god awful developers and unbalanced gameplay.

Too bad the rest of it sounds incredibly flat and generic, with such a picture it had real parody potential. But nah it's another military shooter that takes its dual-wielding silliness way too seriously.

It was pretty fun before it went pay-to-win, though. Using the default sniper rifle to pick off kiddies half a kilometer away armed to the teeth with their mom's mastercard was hilarious.
