• Best place to buy used/refurbished computers online?
    22 replies, posted
So, I've been dealing with a crappy P4 computer for a couple years now, and I'm looking for something a little better, preferably a dual core. Unfortunately, I don't have enough to build one, or buy something new, so I'm looking more at used and refurbished computers. Anyone know of good places online to look?
Also would be interested, I need a new server.

Currently around $100 (unfortunately) but it's growing, capable of having $165 or more by the end of the month.
Why not save the shipping costs and other online hassles and check your local craigslist or other local "used stuff" website?
I've checked Craigslist, found nothing good unfortunately.
Look in the dump I pulled out a dell dimension 9150 that had a Nvidia geforce 6800, a 3.2ghz pentium D and 2gb of ram [editline]4th January 2011[/editline] Or get PC's from dumps, fix them up and sell them Use the money to build a new rig
Ebay
Get a quad core, could probably find one at the price of a dual core.
I wish I can look in the dump too bad it's illegal to do so where I live.
PC's and other electronics don't go to the dump here. They go to a household waste facility.
If you can find out where that is, some may even let you take some home for a small fee
Well I know where it is. I've taken stuff there before. That's where people are supposed to take household hazardous waste and electronics. Found the answer on the website.
What is the Reuse Room? The reuse room is an area for residents of the five county region also served by the Sioux Falls Regional Landfill (Minnehaha, Lincoln, Turner, Lake and McCook Counties) to take products brought into the facility for free that are in a usable condition. The facility redistributes only household cleaners, paints, etc. and does not have electronics available for the taking. Staff is unable to guarantee the quality of the products, but each item is inspected before making it available to the public. The hours of operation are the same as those of the rest of the HHW Facility and can be found under the contact information in the column to the right.
Dangit Sioux Falls.
