We can't help you if you don't know the simplest of things.

I have no choice but to give you the RTM answer, so read the topmost thread in this board. ALL THE WAY THROUGH.
If he doesn't even know what distro he has on there, he probably bought it from Asus with Linux pre-installed, which means it's likely Ubuntu
iirc some early eee pc models came with Xandros installed, he could possibly be running that
I think that one runs xandros
yeah, its an asus with A version of linux on it, i completely forgot to mention that, whoops....

that doesn't help at all
open a terminal and type uname -a, post the output. that might help

The EEE PC brand comes with yellow dog linux I believe.
By default it's Xandros Linux with a simplified XP-esque skin.

afaik yellow dog doesn't even run on x86
Yeah, yellowdog runs on PPC, like the old PPC macs and the PS3.
this is what uname -a gave me:
Linux asus-421178681 2.6.21.4-eeepc #2 Mon Oct 15 12:49:37 EDT 2007 i686 GNU/Linux
is this any help?

Not really.
Are there any logos when you first boot up the machine? Or can you post the names of the text editor, webbrowser, file manager etc so we can make a better guess as to which distro you have.
It's just a version of Xandros. Your best bet is to put a distro of your own choice on it, it's what I did straight away with my eeePC 1000 as the stock OS is very very limited.
