• What's there to do with a psp (hacking and whatnot)

So I got me a psp as soon as they came out, but that shit broke and I decided I didn't want another one, and back then playstation consoles were boring. I ignored all playstation related stuff untill this christmas, I got me a new psp 3000 (rachet and clank, fuck yea nostalgia) and I noticed a bunch of stuff around youtube and what about custom firmware when I was looking at game reviews. I couldn't find 1 decent tutorial/faq about psp hacking anywhere and I wanted to know what I could do, how to do it. I have a 1 gig memory stick but I might get a bigger one soon, I'm on whatever the most current update is (6.00 i think) can someone give me more light on this subject, and sorry if this is the wrong place, I figured most people in the hardware/software section would have enough knowledge to solve my problem and get it over with
You can't do anything at all with your PSP, judging on the conditions that you have given (Model 3000, firmware 6.0)
I cant downgrade then upgrade to a cfw?
Not on a PSP-3000
Just wait, they'll figure it out eventually.
pspiso.com They'll teach you everything you need to know about hacking your psp.
Just wait, they'll figure it out eventually.
Yea right... Pretty sure they will find out the IPL hash in let's say... 200 years of bruteforcing?
pspiso.com They'll teach you everything you need to know about hacking your psp.
Including the nonexistence possibilities for PSP-3000 and newer that you are talking about??

Before Pandora and CFWs, almost all code was run through some kind of exploit, usually buffer overflow vulnerabilities and KXploit (once you downgraded to 1.50). Code can already been run on 3000 and Go with the Easter Eggsploit if you have 5.03 or lower.
They'll find a way soon, unfortunately I can only hack up to 5.03 firmware, and I'm pretty sure pandora batteries don't work in 3000's.

I would suggest not modding, if you don't know what you're doing you'll turn your PsP into a paper weight.

I've seen a few 1000's on sale at a pawn shop near my house. Is it worth buying?
I guess I should've said something before I updated all the way up...
I've seen a few 1000's on sale at a pawn shop near my house. Is it worth buying?
I have a 1000 and it runs all the new games without a hitch. Running 5.50 GEN-D2, i think. Don't remember correctly. Of course, it'll have bigger loading times and lack of some things (video output, so you can plug it into a TV, among other things).
I guess I should've said something before I updated all the way up...
Probably would have been the best idea. You'll just have to wait and hope at this point.
I used to have a modded PSP 1000, but then I got an iPod Touch and jailbroke that.
I used the ChickHEN "Eggsploit" for my PSP 2000, which a year ago was considered unhackable it had firmware 5.00, and I had to upgrade to 5.03 to use the Eggsploit. I had the best luck resetting my PSP to default settings, and usung the 32MB stick that came with it using a fresh format within the PSP itself. Then I loaded the Eggsploit, and it worked. So give the PSP devs a few months to exploit the 3000 a bit more, and time to exploit the 6.00 firmware. My PSP was brand new in May of 2008, and it came with firmware 3.80 pre-installed. Sadly, Dark Alex has only 5.00 m33-6 as the latest CFW available.

Read the first sentence of my post. Right now it's only a matter of finding a new exploit. It's happened many times before, and it will happen again.
nevermind
If you get 5.5GEN (mentioned in post above) on it, you can install windows 95 on it. :v:

I like the fact it has an IR so I can mess with people but I don't really know what else I could do. Any ideas?
I remember back in the day I downgraded my 2.7 firmware to 1.5
What about the GEN team's efforts? There's 5.50gen-d3 as of now...
Never heard of GEN, but will look into it. I've always used Dark Alex's firwmares, as he started it all.
You won't unless you're flashing something.
Not in my case, Ive fucked up flash0 on my psp countless times and recovered it easily. Ive also gotten the BSOD, RSOD, Semi-Brick, and Full Brick. Ive been able to recover every time except for the one time the L-ion battery exploded. That was bad. Also I have no clue how to mod a 3000 I'm still using a 1001. Also to people currently running CFW: http://endlessparadigm.com/forum/downloads.php?action=view&did=1051 Custom Firmware 5.50 Gen D - The only CFW I know that currently works, and is new
People in this thread need to read more before start spamming "Here's a link for 5.50 GEN-D and you can install it on your PSP!!!"
