For me, Firefox is much slower than Chrome, not necessarily the download speed,
but the way tabs and multiple websites behave.
Like when I have 10 tabs open in Firefox, it takes 5 seconds for Firefox to
switch to a different tab when I click on it or open a new one.
The way it scrolls is also slower or stuttery, regardless of smooth-scroll.
In Chrome I can have 25 tabs open and it behaves like I have just one tab.
This occurs to me regardless of how many extensions I have installed on either
browser, or how new the system is (Fresh installs of multiple OSs), and it
happens on my desktop as well as on my laptop.
However, when I look online, the people who experience the same are in the
minority, there are far more people who say Firefox is the same or even faster
than Chrome.
What gives?
What experiences do you guys have?
It actually seems like that Chrome uses more memory than Firefox with the
same amount of tabs open, could it be that since Chrome uses more, it can
also be faster since it has more resources?

PS: I still am using Firefox on all my systems because of better add-ons,
supposed privacy and better themes. :surrender:
Firefox is gr8 m8 ir8 8/8
You should probably get those addons checked though
It's the same when I run it without any add-ons installed :(
But if there's a way to see how much memory specific add-ons use I'll check that
out.
yeah, Chrome gives you the additional time added to each webpage load per addon. I wouldn't be surprised if Firefox has a similar function. You may be able to use a feature like that to get some insight to any baddons you might have.
Thanks for the idea.
Did you try other forks of Firefox like Waterfox and Pale Moon? Do they behave poorly as well?
Waterfox is working perfectly fine for me with entirely too many tabs.

I really should close some but effort.
I know Waterfox won't work on linux without wine but there is probably some other 64 bit version that might help.
Sounds like there's an issue with your install of Firefox. I've always got half a dozen to a dozen tabs open in Firefox and I've got like 40 addons installed and I never have any issues like what you're getting. You might try a fresh install and see if that fixes your issue.
Maybe do some cleanup. I know in older versions of Firefox, the browser would freeze briefly if you didn't clean the downloads list every so often.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll see what I can do.

Yeah. It's called "Firefox".
Linux isn't in the habit of running binaries for inferior architectures on 64 bit operating systems.
I stayed on Firefox for a long time because I didn't feel like finding new add-ons in chrome, but I found that Firefox randomly had problems with certain pages and loaded a bit slower.
Anyway, I removed some addons and it's still the same.
I'm just gonna have to live with it.
