Neat, might get into it. Though I still have $30 worth of gold I never spent :v:
Its been too long since I played this. I played it a lot during beta, then once right after the beta, then I started playing a lot of other stuff and haven't gotten back to it.
I remmeber playing the fuck out of this in Beta. It felt grindy as fuck, but was fun.
All I remember of post-Beta was things feeling even more gindy, and me stopping as a result. I regret so much, T:A was so fucking fun with friends.
If only HiRez cared more about the game it would've been great, maybe even e-sports worthy.
Hey look it's almost like it's a real one-time-payment game!
If you stopped playing before about 2 months after open beta started then you missed a sizeable price decrease. You can now get practically anything with a days worth of grind; my friend has 4 maxed out classes and he has played less than 50 hours of the game.
It's not really pay2win, but it is grind2win, which is a shame but hey F2P what are you gonna do.
Do people still play tribes?
Also if you didn't know it yet, all items are 50% off as well, permanently.
They cut prices for everything that costs XP in half for an indefinite amount of time, so it isn't that bad anymore.
Over the past 6 months I've been on and off downloading it for amounts of time but then gave up eventually due to my 600 kb/s DL speed, this time I'm gonna wait though, should be able to finally give it a go
Tribes is a fantastic game, I feel it would'a been better if it wasn't F2p.

They're really incompetent when they're producing this game.
Oh well, they have their bastard child SMITE they made with Treib money.
Back when I stopped playing it took a very long time to unlock anything and most unlockables (especially new ones) were batshit insanely OP. Assuming Hirez still sucks balls at balancing then this little package is basically pay2win.
I'm so glad I stopped playing this.
Nothing is P2W any more.
I just wish hirez didn't dump global agenda to work on tribes. No-one plays it anymore.

Enough so that several full servers are available at pretty much any hour for any game mode.

Global Agenda was a negative revenue for them so it makes sense.
I'm kind of disappointed they dumped Tribes for Smite though. They get one of the most beloved and unique IPs in competitive gaming history and they squander it on some short term profits to make another MOBA to be thrown into the lions den with League of Legends and Dota 2.

I can guarantee you Smite is never going to be seen as a serious MOBA, at least not anywhere near as popular as League of Legends or Dota 2. Its just such an awkward and cringe-worthy game that is incapable of catching on.
Hi-Rez are pretty shitty developers. They took the awesome Tribes IP, made a good game, but then were absolutely awful at supporting it (shitty patches, neglecting key features such as VOIP, not listening to esports members, etc.) and just ditched it when their profits started to dwindle due to their own stupidity.
I couldn't get into this game. It did not even feel remotely like the original Starsiege: Tribes.
It kept some of the original elements, but overall it wasn't the same game. A huge part for me in the original tribes was general control of your team, get onto the map, assign different people to different areas and such. And then there was modding.
Holy fuck the mods for that game were great. that was how I first got into sandbox building games. But damn, calling in ships from orbit and shit, nukes. All kinds of stuff, that game was old as fuck but those mods kept it alive and kicking for a long ass time.
There was surfing, but not on the ridiculously over the top levels implemented into this game. Now its just like a bunch of assholes on skateboards with rockets shooting each other with lasers.
I want my fucking scout back damnit!

I like old Tribes, Starsiege was one of my first online FPS games. But I also like Ascend. I just wish Hi-Rez had kept the game as a priority for a little longer and listened to the competitive players whos suggestions were almost always positive additions at all levels of play.
