Windows imploding: Installs won't finish, sleep/shutdown/restart don't work

I am having a hell of a time with my Windows 8.1 installation as of late, and I mostly blame AMD for it. I've had issues from the beginning that I would like to address though, in case anybody knows how to fix them.
The main problems I'm having now started when I wanted to update my video drivers for Wolfenstein: The New Order. The install failed to update my drivers, so I went through and ordeal of removing every trace of the old drivers and updating them. Everything worked fine for a while. Then I started getting Device Power State Failure BSODs after about 10 minutes from resuming from sleep mode. That was getting annoying, but even worse is that apparently my computer hangs and eventually crashes and reboots trying to shutdown or restart. Since my only course of action was to either hard power off or wait for it to crash and reboot, I chose hard power off, and that came with a price. Now I can't install anything using an msi package or do anything involving system utilities (chkdsk, driver disabling/installing/etc), it just hangs at the start for no discernible reason. At one point, I actually couldn't boot because it couldn't find the system registry, and I had to use a restore point.
I tried scanning with MBAM but it didn't find anything, I don't have any suspicious processes or services and I haven't installed anything out of the ordinary. I can't think of a reason this is happening except that Windows is just boned. I did manage to run SFC but it didn't find any erroneous system files. My final solution is of course to reinstall Windows, but the process of making a backup of my various things and checking it twice will take longer than I think this installation is going to last. If anybody can provide insight to some of these issues, I would be very grateful.
Also, for the longest time, when I could still use sleep mode, my computer would wake itself up at random times in the night. I disabled all devices being able to wake the computer and disabled events and automatic maintenance that woke the computer to do magic things. There is no reason for it to do this, but it happens. It died down quite a bit as of late, but I still have an issue of my computer turning itself on at midnight exactly every single day.
Sounds like your hard drive is failing, make sure SMART is turned on on your bios, and load up a copy of Gparted or Parted Magic and check your disk smart status. If you have large number of reallocated sectors your drive is on its way out, and you need to make a backup now.
I actually just solved the issues (all the issues) by removing Samsung Magician from my startup.
Thanks Samsung.

Usually best to remove all installed bloat software except the updating software for drivers

It's not bloatware, which is the confusing thing to me. It really helps keep an eye on SMART data, checks for firmware updates, and does this magical RAPID thing to make things go even faster, all while using few resources. Maybe something happened and RAPID is breaking things, though, I did a quick Google search and I'm not the only one whose shit hit the fan after using RAPID for a while. I don't like disabling it, but it must be done.
