That's actually a good idea. Except not everybody has a smartphone.
I just hope I can still play in 1 lobby with not PRIME people.
That's actually a good idea. Except not everybody has a smartphone.
pretty much everybody has one and the ones that dont aren't really relevant even fucking 85 year olds are starting to get smartphones
You literally just have to have a qualifying number on the steam account and upgrade it to Prime. That's it. No smart phone required.
how long until you need to use the steam app because people apparently need Valve to hold their hands?
That's actually a good idea. Except not everybody has a smartphone.
It doesnt use the app, just a phone number. (not VOIP numbers and some phone carriers) I'm guessing you also have to verify the number.
pretty much everybody has one and the ones that dont aren't really relevant even fucking 85 year olds are starting to get smartphones
Yeah, but that's not the point. It's just not everybody have one. You can't just disclose the ones who don't have one as not relevant.
pretty much everybody has one and the ones that dont aren't really relevant even fucking 85 year olds are starting to get smartphones
Oh I'm not relevant, okay :(
it's not an app it just needs your phone number, pretty much everyone has a phone and if they don't then they're too young to be playing anyway lol
it's not an app it just needs your phone number, pretty much everyone has a phone and if they don't then they're too young to be playing anyway lol
While I'll admit they're a small percentage, it's a bit ridiculous to claim that the only people that don't have phones are kids.
While I'll admit they're a small percentage, it's a bit ridiculous to claim that the only people that don't have phones are kids.
Kids not having phones is redundant to the original subject, but just to add onto that I've seen kids as young as around the age of 6 having smartphones around here Oh god flagdog what are you doing i'm not norwegian i'm swedish :freakout:
i used to love CS:GO because i could easily go into a competitive match and just have fun, all these barriers theyve added are so annoying, i had to buy the 5 euro operation pass and farm bots for 3 hours before I could play matchmaking again. now ontop of that i can't win more than 2 games every 21 hours (what the fuck???) so i won't be able to get ranked untill atleast another week i feel like this is just going to become another barrier for competitive play once most of the playerbase signs up

It's not that hard, all you have to do is play a few casual matches and you'll be able to play comp
it also does not allow VOIP phone numbers so you can't use a google number.
Yeah, but that's not the point. It's just not everybody have one. Not everyone has a high end PC, so we can't use high definition graphics in our games. Besides its not relevant to this as you don't have to have a smart phone.
It's to stop hackers and smurfs.
That's not really working in the first place cause if people want to smurf or hack they will just go through that like everyone else
To be honest there's really no reason not to have a smartphone nowadays. It's not like they're expensive, a really basic Android phone which could run the Steam app would set you back $30 or less.
It's to stop hackers and smurfs. I played CS:GO since beta, then quit for a few months and came back with 50 competitive matches on the counter, but couldn't play competitive because i wasn't level 3.
I have a cellphone, but no need for a data plan or an actual plan because I'm always within WiFi range either at home, campus, or work. I also don't make enough money to justify paying for a plan considering everyone I talk to uses some form of free VOIP like skype/discord/teamspeak/etc Hell, for the odd <10 phone calls we do a year, we only have a VOIP "landline" magic jack, which wouldn't even work in this scenario either.
if windows phone has an android emulator you can use that, i have a blackberry and the steam authenticator works on that using the android emulator
it also does not allow VOIP phone numbers so you can't use a google number.
Well, I thought this was a good idea and now I don't.
if windows phone has an android emulator you can use that, i have a blackberry and the steam authenticator works on that using the android emulator
you don't need the steam authenticator it seems, probably done through sms
Oh I'm not relevant, okay :(
Haha look at this guy here :D
you don't need the steam authenticator it seems, probably done through sms
Not even that, it just goes off of whatever you have entered into your account at the time I guess. I did it in-game and nothing happened beyond me hitting the "yes i'll participate in the beta" button.
While I'll admit they're a small percentage, it's a bit ridiculous to claim that the only people that don't have phones are kids.
Its fucking apalling to live in 2016, having a computer AND enough money to buy CSGO..... And yet not even having a basic cellphone? I doubt there are atleast 1% out of those playing csgo.
I had the 5 year coin and over 50 comp matches won and it let me in without having to level up
I'm rank 5 and 14 comp wins and it let me in
These days not having a smartphone as a choice is pretty pretentious to be honest
how long until some turbosperg meganerd buys multiple phones just so he can keep cheating in a video game
how long until some turbosperg meganerd buys multiple phones just so he can keep cheating in a video game
you dont have to buy multiple phones lol, just use different sim cards (although the newest android made it harder with some weird security feature, you can probably turn it off tho) its definitely not gonna be a problem for serious cheaters here in russia, sim cards are a dime a dozen here
