Old GPU is Fried, looking for new one. ($200-$300 range)

So the old 8800 GTX finally crapped out on me after a good run, and it's time to replace it. I used to keep up with hardware but I lost track long ago. I'm looking to spend 200-300, is that enough to keep up with playing modern games at decent rates? I just bought ARMA II. It's also going to be used for high demand graphical software like Nuke, and Maya. I also prefer NVIDIA.
Here are the other parts in case there is risk of bottle necking or what have you:
Windows 7 64 bit
CPU: Intel QX9650
RAM: 8gb ddr2
MOBO: nvidia 780 sli
PSU: Antec 850w
Thanks!
You can afford a gtx 570 for $250. You might be bottlenecked a bit by your processor but I don't think it will be too major.
Yeah I figured this system was starting to reach the end of its lifetime. Any other suggestions?
560 ti?
Either an HD 7870 or a GTX 570. The 7870 will perform better for gaming and in many cases compares to a GTX 580. Not sure on the comparison between the programs you mentioned however. They are the same price though, $270 each.

You likely won't notice a bottleneck, but your card will be slowed down by the pci slot on your mobo and also the type of memory you are currently using, but overall that cpu is still powerful. Even if you got a GTX 680 I doubt you would notice a significant bottleneck in performance.
