A delay this late isn't going to be so they can actually add new things to the game. It'll likely just be bug fixes and such.

The game is probably broken and they know it so they're trying to delay it as much as possible to try and fix it up.

I feel like No Man's Sky is going to be like Elite Dangerous but with even LESS to do. It feels like it's a foundation to build a really nice game onto, but that's all it is. There is no game yet. So I'm glad they're delaying it

If that's the problem, a six-week delay isn't enough time for them to add fuckall. A six-month delay would be appropriate for "we forgot to build the rest of the game".
Six weeks is more final polish and tech issues, and possibly disc reproduction/distribution problems.

A lot of stuff in a lot of games get cut last second because they aren't polished enough, and get added later. Maybe. Hopefully that's what's happening here
This genre has been shit on so many times in the past 8 years that as much as I would love to play this game, you can tell its just going to be another disappointing shitshow where there is nothing else besides what they have shown (other than the big oogie boogie atlas fight/ universe reset at the center)

It's good that they'd rather delay than release it broken but it's not a good thing that there are problems significant enough to delay the game in the first place.
