I have two power supplies, need help on deciding which one to use (Generic vs. Brand)

Hi, my friend gave me his old PC and it has a thermaltake Purepower 500w PSU, it's amp ratings are
+3.3v@22a +5v@32a +12v1@14a +12v2@15a -12v@.5a +5VSB@2a
Or I have this generic 600w psu,
+3.3v@24a +5v@15a +12v1@30a +12v2@22a -12v@.3a +5VSB@2.5a
My system specs are here, I use this for gaming and I'd like to use the beefiest power supply so that I can properly OC everything.
CPU: Intel cor 2 quad 6600 @ 2.4ghz
GPU: BFG Nvidia 9800gt+
RAM: 3gb DDR2
No cd drives
Two Sata HDDs, one 350gb, one 250gb
aftermarket Antec 120mm fan
a power supply is the part making sure every other part gets the correct amount of power
if you use a cheap shitty one, you can be putting your whole build at risk

They both are adequate, and I literally have both of them here with me right now. I just need to know if the 500w could be better due to more amperage per rail or whatever.
I would be using the thermaltake. Generic brand PSUs are a risky buisness.
Also im running a 500W thermaltake PSU with a Q6600, 8800GTX, 4GB ddr2, 2 sata hdd + sata DVD, 4 giant fans, and ive had the Q6600 running at 3.2GHz, and the GPU OC'd (forgot how far, did it ages ago), 2x250mm fans + 2x120mm fans, an array of external drives. Never had any problems in the power department.
I can guarantee the shitty 600W does not output 600W where it's important
at least without doing a very good impression of an IED
Wow you were right, I put in the 600w and my system started to choke up. After I put the 500w in I would average 80 fps again in bulletstorm :iiam:
Why did you put it in after we all told you not to?

It was already in my pc.

I don't think a PSU affects FPS.

It can do if the things it's connected to aren't getting adequate power.
If that's a Channel Well in that Thermaltake, then I'd go with that one. I have used Channel Well PSUs before, they are decent budget PSUs. Although if the Hardware Secrets review is accurate, and they usually are, then it's really a 375W PSU so keep that in mind.
The generic one is almost certainly not good for 600W AND I bet its internals are not even Channel Well quality.
