You know Apple, this is a great time to consider actually putting a few pennies towards making your phone's battery life not be total shit.

have you ever used an iphone?
i've seen those things last for days

Yeah, I'm with Crypto on this one. Have you actually used an iphone?
Under idle/minimum work, my phone easily lasts 2-3 days. Under a full work load it will still usually last 12-24 hours before needing a recharge. The recharge is also ridiculously fast. Mine usually goes from empty to full battery in 2 hours or less. Also if I know I'm going a long time without a power source, I can enable low power consumption mode and extend the current battery life that way.
I currently use iPhone 5C. Even posting from it.

Every friend I have with an iPhone always asking for a charger or its always low as shit.

Seems as you haven't expirenced the effects of social media applications yet...
During last period there are always people running around asking people if they have "iPhone 5 chargers"

That's because I don't leave them active 24/7. I use it for my intended purpose then stop. Though my biggest power drains appear to be Facebook and Skype

Oh don't load that crap here dude, all phones in the universe will last forever if "used for it's intended purpose"
Goes for my HTC One too, if I send a text every 15min then it'll last almost a week tho' if I use it how it was built to be used with lots of apps and music etc then it'll last around 15 hours.

I have quite a few apps on my phone ranging from social (facebook) to messaging (skype) to videos (YouTube) to games (sonic 2 remastered, plague inc, hearthstone, Minecraft) to good old music (Spotify.) I'm not going to sit here and list every single app I use, but those are the most demanding ones I can think of.
Again, provided I'm not on and actively using these services CONSTANTLY, my phone usually lasts a few days. I also make a habit of enabling low power mode when I'm away from an outlet for any significant stretch of time.

No iPhone can last a few days unless you turn it off every time you stop using it.

I'll drop the subject since it seems to be upsetting people. I'm going off of my own personal experience, your mileage may vary.
Certainly lasts a hell of a lot longer than my old android.
My iPod touch lasts about 3 days without charging it.
But that is a bit different from an iPhone.

iphone owner of 4 years here
these things die fucking fast.
I don't play games or do anything but internet browse because battery life disappears to games or apps other than chrome or safari it would seem.

Meanwhile, my old ipod touch (2nd gen I think) could start the day at 100 and end up at 0% about 6 hours later with very light use (low brightness and just music)

Yes, I do own one and while I can get a few days of standby time if I gotta use the wireless for any reason it just murders my battery. I can get an hour and a half of nearly constant data use when I worked an eight hour shift and when I get home I got between 25-9% battery left.

On ultra savings mode and never being used right?
ok so while all those apps may not be using power, how come they've had the multitasking pannel for what 4 OS's now and they haven't implimented a "clear everything" or "close all" button.
i get that its unnessicary, but damn every time i pickup my mom's ipad, she's got litterally hundreds of these apps lined up in the multitasking panel because she never goes into that menu
its just messy design, android supposidly does the same thing buuuut its got a handy "close all" button that cleans up the menu

eh, when i play doom on my ipod 5 it dies in an hour.

The task switcher shows three types of apps: Those active in the background (Using CPU cycles, RAM and power) those frozen (Suspended to RAM only, using no power) and recent (Not using any resources, as it's a placeholder). The task switcher is primary filled with "recents", which frankly, is fucking messy and forever will be one of the main reasons why I jailbreak my device.
There are tweaks that fix that, only showing the first two types.

My Iphone could last for 3-4 days if you p much didn't use it at all, maybe just sent a text or a short call. However if you use it like a "normal" person might do, check facebook, browse the web, maybe chat a bit, then it won't last very long.
It also seems like Iphone's battery gets fucked pretty fast by charging and so on. Feels like it just took a month or two before the battery went so bad that even with medium use the battery would barely last a day.

It's all in the screen, the bloody screen uses so much power it's amazing.

I'm on iOS 8 (current signed iOS 9 can't be jailbroken yet) and I have a tweak to just slide down on the multi tasking view that closes all apps.
My Note 5 lasts all damn day without needing a charger. Back when I had an iPhone, I needed to charge that thing at least once during the schoolday with minimal use.
I'm inclined to say that the iPhone battery is pretty shit from these personal experiences.
I think the best iphone batteries have been rated has been 60 something hours.
Iphone batteries are always shit.
However, Ipad batteries are the shit, they last so much fucking long. You could leave it like a day and the battery would still be at 100%.
All you have to do is look at online benchmarks and you will consistently see that the latest iPhones are always among the best-in-class for battery life, and always kick the shit out of literally every other phone for charging time.
Can you guys stop the Apple hate, please? It's getting old.

thats because apple actually dedicates a lot of room to the battery on an ipad, where as on the iphone their anorexic design principles has shaved it down to a tiny stick of a battery

So what if it charges fast? Which isn't even that big of a deal to boast about, as iirc, we'll soon have 20 min charging phones, by the look of things.
Plus I'd much rather have a phone that holds up its charge, than a phone that "trades that" for fast charging.
And people hate on Apple for good reasons.
Hell, the other day I was talking to someone who was given a 6S by her dad, and she said that if he didn't, she'd have bought it anyway.
800€ right there.
I argued with her that there are better phones for way less money, and that, even if there weren't, it doesnt warants 700 to 800 euros for the 6 or the 6S, and that she knew that.
She stood by her opinion that iphones are better...
Apple fanboys are literaly the worst, because their arguments as to why Android isn't as good is generaly something like "bleagh" or "ugh", in other words, nothing whatsoever other than unwaranted sounds of disgust.
Meanwhile, Apple charges a fuckton of cash for somewhat inferior phones just because of the brand.
I've torn down an iPhone 6s and as far as battery is concerned, they leave much to be desired, they could easily double their battery capacity if they weren't trying to consistently shave mm's off each iteration, the battery they have is exceptionally high capacity for its size but if they changed their design philosophy somewhat they could end the battery problem easily since phones are low power enough to last a day of good use on the annorexic batteries they use today

I'm amazed how long my iPad 2's battery lasts when in sleep mode. I could forget to charge it at 6% before I go to bed and I wake up to see it at only like 5%
