I don't know, it used to be that people just let their kids go out by themselves from a fairly early age, and that's not really the case any more. If this allows parents to feel safe giving their kids more freedom again then so be it.

Is it not the case anymore due to an increase in kidnappings.
Or is it not the case due to an increase in the media and industries that would profit from it screaming 24/7 just how dangerous it is for children these days.
