What do yall think, is "Beverly Hills" by Weezer satire or not?
I don't really listen to Weezer all that much, but they seem like a group that would never seriously make a song about Beverly Hills being the ultimate goal/perfect place.
A satire of what, though? Beverly Hills culture, or alternative culture?

Beverly Hills

They don't really glamorize the "Beverly Hills Lifestyle", but I don't know if it's satire. Seems more like the perspective of a lower middle class person who has nowhere further to go. Think of somebody who comes home from work and just lounges around watching TV, fantasizing about what life could have been like.

Where I come from isn't all that great
My automobile is a piece of crap
My fashion sense is a little whack
And my friends are just as screwy as me
I didn't go to boarding schools
Preppy girls never looked at me
Why should they I ain't nobody
Got nothing in my pocket
The truth is...I don't stand a chance
Its something that you're born into...
And I just don't belong...
No I don't - I'm just a no class, beat down fool
And I will always be that way
I might as well enjoy my life
And watch the stars play[/quote]
